"Shit, Arianna, your face looks like shit," Harvey said when he saw me after parking the car.
"You are not helping," I muttered
I don't know how the hell I am going to calm him down. The bruise doesn't even hurt, it's not a big deal. Besides, we left Candy and Sandy in worst condition than us.
I hope Archer doesn't overreact.
"Come on, let's get in already," I muttered
Harvey opened the door and let us in. Archer, surprisingly, was in the kitchen cooking something.
He was only wearing a pair of faded jeans. Meaning he was shirtless. And the way he was rumbling around in the kitchen, without a shirt, was a sight to watch.
At that moment, I couldn't help but make my eyes glued to him. And even if I wanted to look away, I couldn't. He was very compelling.
He looked up and met my eyes, and suddenly he frowned.
He turned off the gas and made his way to where I was standing and grabbed my face in his hands, examing it.
"What happened?" He asked rather too calmly
"Huh?" I was still busy looking at him that my mind failed to process what he said.
"Why do you have this big ass bruise on your face?" He repeated himself
"Oh, it's nothing. Iris and I got in a fight in school—the reason we got home early," I said slowly, waiting for him to explode.
But he never did. Instead, his face broked in a genuine smile.
"I hope you girls left them in a worse state," he laughed
I was stunned at his reaction to actually laugh at what he said.
"Wait, you aren't mad?" I asked him confused
"Why would I be? If they did a number more on you, I would be thoroughly disappointed. And you wouldn't be able to stop me from teaching you how to fight," he said, I could see that playful gleam in his eyes, "But, that's not the case is it?"
"Nope," I said popping the 'p'
He examined my bruise for a while and took me to the kitchen and told me to sit on a kitchen stool.
He brought an ice pack and started patting my face with it gently.
"Anywhere else you are hurt?" He asked
"No, she was just lucky she got a hit on me," I shrugged
"Cocky, aren't we?" He smirked
"A girl needs a boost every now and then, what do you think?" I punched his shoulder gently
"I'll keep that in mind, then" he mumbled
"You know what? I want food," I suddenly spoke up after a while, causing Archer to retrieve the ice pack from my face.
I open my mouth wide and stretch it. It seems my blood has frozen in my veins. I moved my jaw side to side to ease the tension there and pressed my palms on it.
"Lunch is almost ready. Help yourself," he said, gesturing at the counter table.
I serve myself some rice and start eating without waiting for Archer.
He gave me an incredulous look when I started eating.
"What? I'm hungry," I said with my mouth full.
"You are always hungry, Arianna," he shook his head at me.
Did I mention how much I liked it when he called me Arianna?
