Criminals (Punk Luke)

our new neighbour is...

It was a cold evening in town 20. we were sat outside our house waiting for our new neighbour to arrive, it's the law to greet them when they move in like it's the law to marry the person with the same birthmark as you.

"Why does it have to be winter?"

My mum asked.

"Im going inside."

I said getting up.

"Lana sit down!"

My dad spat. I sat back down on the hard steps. I wish I was in town 1 instead of town 20, town 1 has no laws you can do what you want but in town 20 you can't do shit! At least it's not town 1000- you can't do anything in that town. I looked down at my wrists playing with the metal chain around it. I was arrested last month cause I didn't do my chores so now I'm stuck with these on my wrists. black car pulled up on the other house's drive it looked identical to Luke Hemmings'. No it can't be his! He belongs in town 100 where all the criminals are. Luke Hemmings, the most wanted criminal in all towns, got out of the car. He looked directly at me and smiled. We waved to eachother. Me and Luke were best friends until he got arrested and taken to town 100. I missed him but I couldn't show it...I would get sent to the mental institute aka town 200 about 20 hours away from town 100. I grew . hatred for luke the more he did wrong the more it grew. He was forced to come over here. He didn't want to, but he had to. He slowly made his way over. The wardens surrounding the street Had guns out ready to shoot but didn't. they are not at any circumstances allowed to kill. Luke sat next to me

"Hey lana."

he grinned .

"Hi luke." I sighed.

we all sat there for a bit in silence waiting for the warden to call him over...it didn't come. I looked at my wrists again then at Luke's he had 5 chains-they were like mirrors. you could see clearly through them

"you have a chain?"

Luke asked and I nodded

"what did you do?"

He asked I looked at the wardens. they were letting this happen everyone and I mean EVERYONE was afraid of Luke. they let him do what he wanted. I wasn't that afraid, more...curious about how an innocent thing turned bad. "I didn't do my chores" I told him "Oh..." I wanted to hug him but I couldnt "la are you Okay your eyebrows are moving alot?" Luke asked. I hugged him he almost instantly hugged back I felt water drip on my head I looked up at Luke he was crying as well. I didn't want to let go I felt warm and safe for the first time in what seemed like forever. "You dyed your hair?" I asked looking at lukes purpley hair he nodded "i might dye it lilac" he said "i like your tattoos" i looked at all his tattoos. "I remember when we got our first tattoo together Yours saying love and mine saying life" i said looking at my wrists again. We were allowed back in our house but I stayed "Lana go inside your gonna get cold" Luke told me "no" I whispered my mum came out with a fluffy jacket "wear this" she gave it to me. Luke looked at her and she left "it's Okay Luke" I said putting my hand on his "how? Everyones scared of me" "Im not scared" I told him "Im curious" he looked at me confused his eyes were glowing it reminded me of Australia the only place that was normal. "Your eyes are glowing" I told him "it reminds me of Australia" "Lan you know you can't mention there!" He said I shrugged "if someone asks me where I was born I say it" I told him. "Times up!" A warden shouted me and Luke stood up and hugged he kissed my cheek "see ya!" He shouted then left I walked into my house "Lana Moon get to bed! I repeat Lana Moon get to bed!" The watcher said he can sense if your awake or asleep hungry or full stuff like that. I walked to my room and went to sleep.
