Mutual Attatchment

Chapter 5

"Ok now that you have your partners you can get together to discuss your project"

Somin got up to go sit next to Jiwoo. The blonde made no attempt to move to Somin's position in the classroom. Fair enough, Somin didn't really expect her too after what she had learnt about Jiwoo in the past four days of her coming to this school.

"So, the project. Any ideas?", asked Somin.

"A few.. but based of the way you asked I think you've already made up your mind on what you want to do," said Jiwoo.

"Well, yeah but this is a group project so I wanted to know if you had any ideas," replied Somin.

"Ok well, if you have an idea then tell me it. Then, when I tell you my idea, we'll end up doing mine but still, atleast tell me what it is. I'm sure it won't be garbage"

"Gee, thanks," Somin mumbled sarcastically under her breath.

"I heard that."

"You were supposed to," retorted Somin.

"Just tell me the idea" Jiwoo huffed, clearly not impressed with the direction of this conversation.

"Fine," said Somin, "I was thinking we should do a two story, modern style cottage."

"Ha, really?"

"Yes, really," said Somin.

'Damn, why is this girl so surprised?', thought Somin.

"That's actually not too bad but it would be better if we added some shingle style roofing," suggested Jiwoo.

"What why?"

"To make it seem more homey if it is going to be a cottage, duh"

"Geez, know-it-all much," said Somin.

"I'm sorry but you do realise that we are supposed to be combining two architecture styles for this project right?"

"I was getting to that"

"Well you didn't," said Jiwoo, "I haven't even been here a week and I know more about this project then you do."

"Yeah well you haven't been here a week and you've become the worst EGD partner I could have gotten."

"We just started. We have haven't even done anything yet"

"That's the problem, this lesson's nearly over and we barely have a clue what we are going to do. We spent half the time aguing."

"We still have time. You don't need to get so worked up about nothing," complained Jiwoo.

At that moment the bell rang.

"You were saying?", asked Somin sarcastically.

"Good afternoon class, I hope you've discussed an idea already. You're dismissed."

Somin grabbed her things and marched out the classroom but not before writing her address on a piece of paper and passing it to Jiwoo.

"This is my address. Tomorrow is Friday so hopefully we can further discuss the project tomorrow at my place."

And, with that said she went to registration where she saw Tae and Matthew there already with most of the class. Jiwoo had arrived shortly after her but Somin chose to ignore her and talk to her friends.

School ended and the three were lounging in the school quad. They were sitting at a table off to the side with trees offering them shade.

Other tables were dispersed around the outside area. Some with other small groups of students while some students sat alone. The corridors and and greenery outlining the area and the entrance to the school hall and cafeteria were on opposite ends.

They were doing their homework and messing around. Somin was still a little annoyed from being Jiwoo's partner and Taehyung seemed to notice her off behaviour.

"Somin are you alright? You seem a little tense, did something happen?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. It's just..."

"It's just what?", asked Taehyung.

"It's nothing," said Somin, "I'm just being petty"

"It doesn't matter if it's petty, you can still tell us," Tae urged.

"Well you know that EGD project that we got? The one that's worth like, over half our EGD mark this term."

"Yeah. What about it?"

"Well, I don't think me and my partner are going to work together well."

"Really, who is it?"

"The new girl," said Somin, "Jeon Jiwoo is my partner"

"What? Really?", asked Taehyung and Matthew at the same time. Both if them with a slightly different reaction.

Where Taehyung looked joyful and excited Matthew looked like confused like he didn't understand the issue.

"That's great. I'm sure you two will do great together, just give her a chance Somin."

"Yeah Somin, I agree with J.Seph. Give her a chance. She can't be that bad."

'I know you would know' thought Somin remembering what she saw not long ago before going to EGD.

She wanted to ask what happened between him and Jiwoo earlier but she didn't want him to know she saw him and look like some jealous girlfriend.

Somin trusted Matthew. He had never given her a reason not to and she doubted he would do anything especially with someone he just met.

She decided not to mention it and to continue with the conversation saying that she would at least try get along with the blonde.

Taehyung and Matthew didn't really understand why Somin didn't get along with Jiwoo but the chose not to push it and force a reason out of her.

Soon Matthew and Taehyung went home and Somin decided that it was about time she went home too.

Somin walked home and as she did so she became part of the busy streets of Seoul. The busy hustle of everyone keeping her thoughts to a minimum.

She arrived home but there in the empty apparent all alone she, everything still and quiet besides the silent hum of the streets below.

Before the streets provided a distraction but they did very little to stop the brunette from replaying the day's events as she started preparing something for herself to eat.

She thought about the EGD lesson and how she was partners with Jiwoo. Somin dreaded the thought of being partners with the blonde but she knew she had to just stay calm and patient. Jiwoo wasn't all bad. She did help improve the idea afterall.

The blonde had this deep ass voice and her whole 'I don't care' attitude irked Somin on a level that she didn't even know existed for people she didn't fully know.

Somin didn't like Jiwoo and that was it. She didn't know why or how.

Maybe it was their first impression. Maybe it was the way she treated everyone. Maybe it was how the two most important people in her life already were quite fond of her or her attitude.

Maybe it was her.

It didn't matter though. She couldn't explain why but Somin didn't like Jiwoo and that was just the conclusion she had come up with for why she was feeling that way about the blonde.
