Tailwind took a deep vent, closing his optics as he let his chassis move with the intake of Cybertron's fresh atmosphere. The young mech then let his vent back out, his shoulder plates relaxing slowly as he did so. When he opened his optics again, he lifted his helm and looked up at the huge building in front of him. The school stared him back, long and hard without remorse. He felt as if he were forced to look away, gulping as his optics returned to his pedes. He gripped the datapads in his arms tightly, hugging them to his chest chassis.

What's the matter with me? he thought to himself. Even in his helm, it sounded as if his voicebox was shaking. Normally I'm much more level-headed. Yet now his legs were shaking and his digits were twitching. Why does this scare me so much?

"Yo, Windy!" came a femme voice, followed by the sound of hurried pedesteps behind him.

Tailwind sighed as he turned his helm to glare at his sister coldly. "Hello, Arrowwind. How many times do I have to tell you that I wish for you to call me by my original designation?" Despite the annoyance in his nasally voice, he was actually relieved to see his younger sibling.

The blue femme scoffed and slapped his back with her free servo. "And how many times do I have to tell you to stop being so formal?" Her other arm was occupied with several datapads as well, though not nearly as many as her brother was holding. "Especially now that we're starting school!"

Tailwind frowned and straightened to his full height, which wasn't too much taller than his sister. "I think it would be better to speak politely in school, actually. We aren't here to make enemies, Arrowwind."

"Pssh," she scoffed again, placing a servo on her hip. "Whoever said I was trying to make enemies? I'm here to learn, same as you!"

Her brother smiled with a light sigh, cocking an optic ridge before he shook his helm.

"Well, maybe you would be able to learn better if you actually went inside."

The siblings turned sharply, their expressions brightening when they saw their cousin, Timewheel, walking towards them, only holding one datapad in one servo. He snorted at them with a wide smirk. Beside him was a yellow and black mech, doing his best to hold many, many digit pads in his arms. His wide blue optics looked up to them and he smiled.

"Wheeler!" Arrow cried happily, bounding over to her cousin, her brother calmly behind her.

"Arrow!" he called back playfully, giving her a finger gun. "Good to see ya!" The mech looked just like his sire, the famous Wrecker who loved to blow things up.

"It is a pleasure to see you again as well, Wheeler," Tailwind said with a smile, extending out one servo to pat his shoulder plate.

The young Wrecker beamed in his mischievous like fashion before he turned to the yellow mech behind him. "You guys remember Hornetbee, right? He's the best friend a mech could ask for!"

Hornet smiled sheepishly. "Aw, thanks, man!"

Tailwind felt his nerves disappear in the presence of his friends and family. "Of course. Good to see you again, Hornetbee. It's been quite a few years, hasn't it?" He took his servo back and held it out in front of the new friend.

Hornetbee beamed and let go of the datapads to shake his servo. Unfortunately for him, he completely lost his grip on them and they fell to the ground with a loud clatter. His faceplate looked classic when he jumped and looked down in horror.

"Oh no!" he cried in flustered panic, getting to the ground and fumbling to pick them back up. "I'm so sorry! This was my mistake-"

Both Wheeler and Arrow burst out into laughter, and Tailwind couldn't help but chuckle a little bit as well. The femme got to her knee plates and began helping him, still laughing hysterically.

"You're a riot," she gasped when she could speak again, handing him the ones she had stockpiled. "You're Bumblebee and Arcee's kid, right?" she asked after taking a few more vents.

Hornetbee's faceplate turned a light blue at the edges, smiling gratefully as he took the datapads back and nodded. "Yep! They are my parental units!" He stood up and turned to his friend with a mock angry grin. "You can carry your own datapads now!" he laughed, shoving some of them into Wheeler's chest chassis.

The mech laughed heartily as he gripped them. "Sorry, man. I'll carry 'em from now on."

"You're such a glitchhead, Wheeler!" Arrow snorted with a servo on her hip. She turned to Hornet again and slapped him playfully on the back. "You haven't changed much since we were sparklings, have ya?"

The yellow mech smirked as they began to walk towards the entrance. "I have to! I'm much taller than you now." He lifted his servo to measure them. The group laughed together as they made it to the doors.

Tailwind, who was leading the way, stopped just in front of the wide automatic doors. They opened slowly in front of them, a slight creaking lifting into the air. All over again, Tailwind's spark began to sink, and he gulped. The other three were still chatting excitedly behind him, but paused when they noticed he had stopped.

"Ya good, cuz?" Wheeler asked, taking a step towards the mech.

Tailwind realized that his knee plates were shaking, and he gulped with a nervous smile. "Well, I will not say I am not nervous," he said, his voicebox indeed shaky.

Arrowwind, though almost always a teaser, could see her brother was a lot more afraid than he let on. This was something he had inherited from their sire; he wouldn't say when something was bothering him. She placed a servo on his shoulder plate and smiled softly. "Don't worry. We got this! And if we mess up, we learn from our mistakes. That's what we're here to do, right?" She patted his shoulder plate a little and pushed him forward.

"And you're the one that loves to suck knowledge into your processor for a living," Wheeler laughed, kicked the back of Tailwind's pede gently.

"I'm nervous, too," Hornetbee admitted. "But my sire said this school is for the students, so the teachers ought to be doing their best to help us learn!"

Tailwind swallowed, feeling a little bit better. "You're all right. Thank you," he told them with a new sense of confidence. His spark was still telling him not to go in there, but he pushed the nerves down and took his first step into his new life.

"So we're heading to the entrance ceremony first, right?" Hornetbee asked, looking around at the giant halls.

Tailwind tried to ignore the crowds of femmes and mechs alike, all heading towards the end of the hall. "That is correct, yes. That is also where we will know where the classes and homerooms are." He held his datapads tightly to his chest chassis. His optics lit up when he saw the room where his medical class would be held. Only he in his group could tell what it was for, since he was following in his carrier and grandsire's pedesteps in medical training.

"You think Rewind will have saved us seats?" Arrow asked casually.

"I hope so, I don't wanna hafts search for her," Wheeler answered back, rubbing the back of his neck cables.

Hornetbee smirked teasingly at his friend. "It wouldn't be hard for you to find her, I bet," he said in a low voice. Wheeler flushed a little and went into a little frenzy trying to smack the scout in the helm.

As the other three joked around behind him, Tailwind looked up at the giant exit doors that led out into the back outside. There was a giant banner by the door, and they were already wide open. His optics widened and he was about to drop at how many Cybertronian younglings were out there.

"Guys," he called, stopping just before the crowd. "I think this is it."
