The crowd was chattering and chattering and chattering, the voices all mixing with each other and creating a blanket of noise. Rewindspeed wasn't normally one that was bothered by loud noises; in fact, she loved to listen to the loud rock their human friend Miko played for them when they visited Earth. But Rewind was bothered, no infuriated, now, because she knew if she tried to call her friends, there was no chance they would hear her. She frowned with a huff as she tried to push her way through the crowd again. She strained her optics to try and see anyone she recognized.
"Rewind!"
The femme perked up when her audio receptor heard her designation somewhere in the crowd. She swung her head in the direction of the sound, her faceplate brightening when she saw her best friend pushing Cybertronian's aside. Behind her was her brother, Tailwind, their cousin, Timewheel, and their friend Hornetbee. Her spark picked up happily and she shoved past a group of mechs to reach them. She crushed Arrow into a hug with a happy squeal.
"You're finally here!!" she cried out when she let go.
The blue femme laughed, which was almost drowned out by the sounds of the crowd. "Of course we are! Wow, how long has it been?" She slapped her friend on the shoulder plate.
"OMP, like, two days!!" Rewind groaned dramatically.
Tailwind chuckled and held out his servo to shake. "Since it seems to have been so long," he added coolly, though his optics were playful.
Rewind slapped it away and full on hugged him, just to make him squirm. Squirm he did, his upper body going rigid while his legs danced to get out of her grip. She laughed at him and let go, growing even more hysteric when he shot backwards, almost losing all the datapads he was carrying. His sister and cousin laughed at him while Hornetbee approached the femme.
"Well, it's been a bit longer since I've last seen you," he said with a light chuckle. "Hiya, Rewind."
She beamed and slapped his arm. "Hey, Hornet! It's been what, three months?"
He grinned and rubbed the back of his neck cables. "Well, my parental units have been busy as of late."
Rewind nodded. "Believe me, so have mine. I mean, since my sire is the new Prime and everything, setting up this school has been a big priority of his."
"How is Smokimus Prime lately?" Tailwind asked gently. "I heard that Ratchet has been fussing over him."
Rewind scoffed and waved her servo dismissively. "Oh, that's Ratch for ya. Sire's fine, he just likes the council from the medic, considering he was Optimus' best friend."
"Do I not get a hello?" Wheeler butt in suddenly, making a mock offended expression as he walked over to Rewind.
The femme swallowed back a squeak, forcing her cheeks not to blush. "No, you don't," she teased, punching his chest chassis with a wide grin. Her spark involuntarily beat a little faster when she touched him, but he seemed completely normal as he laughed.
"No fair!" he whined and ruffled the top of her helm harshly. "Why can't I? Did I do something wrong?" He pointed at himself with a fake innocent look.
The two laughed and hugged each other. Rewind sucked in a sharp vent as his arms gripped her tightly. Yes, she had feelings for him. She had since they had met each other as sparklings. However, even as he held her tightly now, she had no idea what he thought of her. A sister, maybe? She prayed that wasn't the case.
"Rewindspeed, your sire is walking up to the stage," Tailwind said stoically. "Is there a place where we can sit?"
Rewind cleared her throat nervously, but Wheeler didn't let her go. In fact, he pulled her in even closer. The femme groaned inwardly when he smirked teasingly at her. She turned her helm to the medic in training with an annoyed look. "Yeah, I saved us some spots. I have a couple friends there, actually." She lifted her arms and pushed Wheeler's chest chassis with a laugh. "Dude, lemme go!"
