Spells and Powers of the Mermaid RaceThere are many spells out there concerning mermaids, but most of them are fake and just for attention. We have compiled a list of spells that we think have a higher chance of being genuine than others. When I say certain spells don't work, I don't discredit magick. In fact, I you should be willing to involve yourself spiritually with sea magick. HOWEVER, I think that a spell that you are going to use to turn you into something that is humanoid is going to have to be carefully planned, infused with a lot of your own energy, and you are going to need an offering of some kind. For example, you can make up any old rhyme spell in a matter of 30 seconds. See?
Mermaid to be, mermaid of the sea,
I see, come to me.
Water spirits I beg, water spirits I plead,
Make this of me.
A mermaid I will be, beautiful tail,
so mote it be. (Example taken off Siren's Cove.)
That was a type of spell that won't work, sorry.
For one thing, what this spell is going to do, is it's going to aid your DNA and your entire essence into becoming a mermaid. BUT we all know that you will not turn into a mermaid by simply touching water. So how does it happen? WELL my friends, this is where shifting comes in. Of course the M-shift is always important, and I find that spells HELP your M-shift. But now that you've done your spell, your body is charmed, the magick is flowing within you and the gods have heard your call. So now what?
The spell gives you the ability to shift. It gives you the ability to transform. And THAT'S where P-shifting comes in. You have to gradually learn how to shift. You didn't think it was going to be that easy did you? You picture your F-shift while you P-shift after mastering your M-shift and viola! The spells give you the ability to do so. However, shifting CAN be done without spells, it just takes longer. So for the people that are against spells for whatever reason whether it be religious, or you don't have the materials, then you can just shift.
First of all, I recommend that you actually learn spell work before casting a spell. Spells are sort of like prayers, only they use your own energy to manifest things. Which is why belief is so important, AND your own will! However, it is a good idea to invoke a Sea Diety in your spells, for extra help. "I like to use Aphrodite (My Matron Goddess, who is a Greek diety for mermaids) and Liban (Celtic Goddess of the sirens). Find an offering to them, it can be a candle, insence, or food. (You can also use blood but a lot of people would advise against that! ). I also like to incorporate things like "I vow to protect the sea" as a bit of a personal thing." -Jessii, Siren's Cove Poster
You will also need to pick a location for your spell. Now I REALLY hate spells that are done in bathtubs. Mostly because it just irritates me how claustrophobic I feel. I need a huge space when I cast my spells which is why I usually cast them outside. But it's really cold up here in Michigan right now, so I can't go outside, especially not swimming. If you have access to a beach (by your home, or on a near vacation) I would advise using those. Beach spells are most effective. If you HAVE to, then use the bathtub, but try to adorn your bathroom with shells, ocean music, insence, and candles, to give it a bit of a sea ambiance.
Now onto the writing portion, this is the bit we discussed earlier. For this part of the spell, I would really try not to focus on the rhyming, more as what you are saying. Spells that come from the heart mean more. Also, although Latin is the language of magick in many cases, I find that a spell said in your native tongue means more, because you can understand it and feel the energy as you are saying the words. And try not to ask for "The tail the colour of ____ and powers like _____ from H2O" because that's not very personal.
Ritual wise, you may want to cast a circle before hand, and use shells to represent each point of the star. And you should invoke a god/ess before doing the spell. There should be some sort of symbolic process such as pouring sea water on yourself, or drinking a potion, or meditating. A good spell lasts anywhere from 15 min to an hour or two to cast. I will work on writing some spells to share to those I think can handle them.
