These are tips to adjust yourself -slowly- to life as a mermaid while still on land. You might acquire new hair and hygiene habits, drink more water, sing so much more, and act more and more like a true mermaid as time passes. It truly is a amazing experience.
Let's start with hair. It's a basic thought and a basic thing to do, so it's not hard and it's easy for it to become so natural you don't even realise you're doing it. That's good. The thing? Oh, just don't style your hair.
I know. You're thinking, MY LIFE IS OVER!
Get over yourself.
ONLY brush your hair. Don't curl it (unless it makes you feel like a mermaid, then its okay for now.) Don't straighten it. Don't temporarily highlight it. Just LEAVE IT ALONE! Brush it when it gets messy, but don't put it in any of the following things:
-ponytail
-bun
-braid
-pigtails
-messy bun
-intricate hairstyles
-curl it
-straighten it
-wear a weave
-put in products
DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME, APHRODITE CABIN???? ((Heh. Percy Jackson joke.))
That SHOULD be easy enough. Just please do it. Please? *puppy dog eyes*
Next. Try to surround yourself with people and colours and an environment resembling water. Whichever kind of water makes you feel comfortable. It makes you more comfortable swimming. I don't know why, but it helped with Kayla, one of my friends with the water.
Finally, sing. That's it. One of mermaids' most powerful assets are their voices, used for communication and a weapon. Just humming under your breath in-between classes and listening to music you feel is connected to the ocean can do wonders. A few suggestions would Let Go by Frou Frou, What the Water Gave Me by Florence and The Machine, and the artist Celtic Woman.
I will give a diet plan outline for each type of merfolk. The rest is up to you. Connect the dots.
DO NOT GO COLD TURKEY- IT COULD PUT YOU IN THE HOSPITAL! I'm serious. You can't, just, go to school or work one day with raw salmon! You have to slowly remove yourself from mundane foods. SLOWLY, or else things could happen to your body. Don't, do that. If you aren't ready for some of the foods on this list, first try to take yourself off of the MOST human foods- sugar, fast foods (french fries, burgers, etc.), shakes/ice cream, candy, you get what I'm trying to say? Well yeah.
TROPICAL MERMAID-A BASIC OVERVIEW:
♡ Seaweed is always a go to snacking option, kelp, kale, and wakame are extremely healthy and full of vitamins and proteins.
♡ Crustaceans are also not only very easy to catch but another good source of protein. Since you will be in shallower waters, you will most likely come across all sorts of lobsters, crabs, and shrimp.
♡ Tropical fruits that grow on islands such as dragon fruit, pomegranates, pineapple, oranges, bananas, etc.
♡ Coconut water as a substitute for regular water. You can also drink Fiji water !!!
♡ Halibut fish, Flounder, Mahi Mahi as fancy diner dishes.
♡ Clams, Oyster, Mussels, etc.
♡ Sushi
DINNER OPTIONS:
When it comes to starting out your diet, you don't want to jump right into eating raw fish, as if you were truly living in the ocean. The best idea is to sneak in some sea food options at dinner time. How about some lobster mac n' cheese for dinner? That sounds delish! Here are a few dinner options you can give to your parents - or if you are in college, you can make em yourself! (Note that these are also pretty good lunch options.)
♡Lobster Mac n' Cheese
♡ Mahi Mahi
♡ Wakame Soup
♡ Seaweed Salad
♡ California Rolls
♡ Dragon Rolls
♡ Grilled Salmon
♡ Stuffed Mussels/Clams
♡ Fried Popcorn Shrimp
♡ A Fruity Salad
♡ A Tuna Sandwich
♡ Crab With Butter
♡ Lobster With Butter
BUT WHAT ABOUT BREAKFAST?:
Aha, you may have noticed that breakfast is the hardest part to keep to with the mermaid diet, I mean, how many of us want to eat a jar of sardines for breakfast, yuck! However, being a tropical mermaid makes this a little easier! Let's take a look at a few breakfast options, shall we?
♡Fruit Salad
♡ Eggs Benedict with Salmon
♡ Tuna Salad Muffins
♡ Shrimp Quiche
♡ Toast And Sardines
♡ Crab Cakes
♡ Seaweed Salad
♡ Any Whole Fruit
DESSERT:
It's everyone's favourite meal, dessert. This is also going to include snacks, which we also all know and love. Here are a few of my favourite options for maximum mermaid snackage!
♡ Vanilla Pudding (Contains Seaweed)
♡ Seaweed Chips
♡ Ice Cream (Contains Seaweed)
