It isn't a surprise to Harry when he wakes up early, the large windows letting far too much sun in. For once, the day is warm, heat sinking into his skin and giving him a comfortable awakening. The sheets are soft, and the mattress is the best he has ever slept on. He can't begin to imagine what the room had cost for their time together last night.
All Harry knows is that whatever it costs, he wasn't worth the money Louis had wasted.
Harry gently peels himself from the red sheets, careful not to awake Louis. The younger looks at him for the first time today. The man is sleeping soundly, lips parted with soft snores leaving them. His body facing Harry, on its side, comfortably tucked in under the blanket, which is up to his neck.
Harry feels bad already, leaving the man without even saying goodbye. Especially after the effort he went to to get this expensive place for the night, so, the boy decides to leave a note, hoping it would be enough for the older man. But first, he gets dressed, throwing on his boxers, skinny jeans, and flower-printed shirt.
The palace-like room has everything one would need. Luckily for Harry, that means a pen and notepad, obviously intended for feedback, however, Harry scribbles on it a note to Louis. 'Sorry I had to leave. Thank you for last night. It was great. Lovely meeting you. H x' Harry smiles at the 'x' on the end and pauses for a moment, questioning if he should put a heart too, but knowing he is thinking too much, he rips the paper off and places it on his side of the bed.
Harry takes one last look around the place to take in the luxurious room that he, himself, wouldn't ever be able to afford, even if he saved every dollar he earned for the next five years. He looks out the window, awestruck at the gorgeous view. Lastly, he gazes over at the man, smiling at Louis' sleeping self before taking the elevator to the ground and walking out into the somewhat sunny day.
Tapping his pockets, only to hear a crunch, Harry gets a rush of excitement and pulls the money out. It must have been from a tip or something like that. Spare change was very rare for Harry to find, so he counts this as a win and immediately finds a cute little cafe to spend it at.
His stomach growls as he enters the cafe, a homely feel to it making him smile softly. It's a mixture of green and orange, plants hanging from the walls and light wood for furniture.
"What can I get you today?" A woman with long, blue hair asks, smiling sweetly at Harry, her braces matching her hair, a similar royal blue.
"Could I please get a hot chocolate and..." Harry ponders, glancing at all the pastries and cakes lined up in a see-through, glass shelf. "And that, please. The vanilla slice."
She taps his order on the screen, and when telling Harry the total, he can't help but feel a little disappointed that he wouldn't get any change. All the money left for treats this week had gone in one spend.
"If you'd like to sit down, I'll bring it over to you." He nods and walks over to the seat by the window, wanting to bathe in the sun while it is out and shining. He checks his messages, one from his roommate, Nathan, checking if he is okay, to which he quickly replies, hoping to ease the worried boy's mind.
"Here you go. Hope you enjoy." In a coffee cup, which is designed with a rose, and looks quite vintage, Harry's hot chocolate has been poured. On a matching plate, his slice sits, ready to be eaten. But, before he digs in, he decides he needs to make a quick call.
Pressing on his mother's contact, his phone begins to ring. He presses to his ear, in all honesty, expecting it to ring out to voicemail, but it doesn't. She picks up.
"Harry, baby! Hi! I have missed you." Harry doesn't remind her of the numerous calls she has missed from him lately, just bottles it all up instead, not wanting to show his true feelings.
"Missed you too, mum," he murmurs, fingers picking at the food on the plate. "How are you? Did you have a nice time on dad's business trip?"
"It was alright... The hotel was not up to standard. Not much to do over there." Harry cringes at how ungrateful she sounds, but once again, keeps his comments to himself.
A sound in the back catches Harry's attention and he sits up straighter in his chair. "Hey, mum... Can I please talk to dad? I sent him a really important email and he hasn't gotten back to me."
"Sorry, darling, but your father isn't here."
"I literally just heard him cough."
"Maybe another time, dear. I better go unpack. Our new maid, did I tell you we got a new one? Anyway, she has got to start washing my vacation clothes. I'll talk to you later, Harry. Love you lots!"
The phone call drops out and Harry looks down at his food and drink, his appetite lost now. He politely waves over the woman when she glances at him, and she comes over quickly, a gleaming smile still featured on her face. Her hands sit in the front pocket of her apron, clutching at the notepad she takes orders on.
"I'm sorry for the hassle, but can I get this to go now?"
"Yeah, sure. No worries. I will be right back," She grabs his slice and beverage and walks off, leaving Harry alone. He turns to look out the window, the sun now hidden behind the clouds, everything dull once again.
