The potion slithered down my esophagus like a snail. I tried to retch up the foul concoction again, but to my horror, it only slid further down, into my stomach. Regardless, I willed with every fiber of my being that my body would obey, and release the infernal potion the witch had laced into my drink.

Just as I was preparing to retch up the solution, a chilling sensation began to form at the base of my spine, making me involuntarily shiver.

"No..." I whispered, realization dawning. Suddenly, my vision, blurred and then cleared and blurred again, before focusing on the woods around me, appearing both expansive and minute at the same time. My skin prickled unpleasantly at the touch of the mist, which I had always previously concealed myself with. And I could feel -my heart dropping into my stomach- the sharp points of my canines shrink to harmless, blunt edges.

The horrid image of a smirking form revealed itself from behind an oak tree.

"For being all too generous with your victory spoils, you have become the very thing you hunt," she said, eyes glittering. She crept closer, reveling in how my body shook in her presence. "Human."
