The child's heart soared at finally feeling her mother's embrace.

    "Oh, I wouldn't have known what to do if I'd lost you!" she exclaimed, as the child sobbed into her shoulder. "We'll talk about this later, but father's waiting in the car, darling." She grabbed onto the child's wrist tightly. Quite tightly, in fact. The child struggled against her grasp, grimacing.

    "Mommy, you're hurting me." Suddenly, as a ray of sun fell upon her, the child could have sworn that her mother's eyes glowed like embers for just a moment.

"Oh honey - you won't feel anything at all anymore."
