Getting a pet

In which Will gives Nico a pet to help with his anxiety and depression.

Will pov.
     Over the last few week I have seen that Nico seems a bit more down and I know just what will help.
     Nico had just left to go vist Hazel and Frank. I had told Nico that I needed to stay and tend to the infirmary. That was a lie. I know I shouldn't lie to Nico but this was the only time I could put my plan into action.
     I got Chiron permission weeks ago to leave camp to do this. He knew that it would help Nico greatly. So I left. I was so gald that I got my drives license last time I spent the summer with my mom.
      If I hadn't I would have had to ask on my my siblings to drive me and I feel like it would be kinda awkward to explain why I was getting Nico a pet.
     I pulled up to the pet store. I'm also glad that I worked that summer job as well.
     I didn't even know what pet I planned on getting Nico. When I walked into the pet store I saw rows and rows of different pets.
     I still had no idea what to get him. I walked down the rows but nothing caught my eye. But then I saw it.
     A cat. A very small little black one. It reminded me so much of Nico. It was perfect.
    I grabbed a cart to get stuff for the cat. I even got it a cat house that look like a shark. I also got the little one a rainbow collar.
     When I went to the staff and told them which cat cat I wanted they looked shocked.
      "Are you sure you want that one? She's so small and skinny."
     All the more reason to get the cat you telling me not to.
    "Of course."
    I wanted to yell at them for talking so poorly about the cat but I wasn't in the mood to be kicked out.
   I quickly paid and took the little one with me. She didn't even have a name. The pet store people didn't bother to name her.
    I'll let Nico name her. She is his cat after all. Once I made it back to camp I quickly went to Nico's cabin so not one would see the cat. Nico would be back in a few hours and I needed to set up the cat stuff in enough time.
      The little one fell asleep as soon as she reached Nico's bed. I couldn't help but stare at her for a few minutes.
     I tore my eyes away from her to start unpacking the cat stuff.

        Nico would be back any second now. I told my siblings to tell Nico that I would be waiting for him in his cabin. I told them that no matter what to not tell him why. It had to be a surprise. I heard the door start to open and quickly scooped up the little one and hide her behind my back
     "Will what are you doing in my cabin?"
     He would see soon enough. If he looked at me instead of putting his crap away.
    "Will?"
    I think it's time to show Nico his gift. Right as Nico turned to look at me I stopped hiding the little one so Nico came face to face with a little black cat.
    "I got you a cat."
     Nico couldn't take his eyes off her. She jumped right out of my arms and into Nico's. He looked so happy.
     "What's her name?"
     I swear I haven't seen him this happy since I asked him out.
      "Well I wanted to leave that up the you."
     Nico looked up at me in awe like he couldn't believe I was letting him name her.
       "Sunny. I'll think I'll name her Sunny."
         I saw a tear roll down his face. I'm so glad I gave him Sunny.
       "That's perfect, Ghost King."
        "Hey, don't call me that!"
      I couldn't help but laugh and Nico soon joined in.
