Down below I heard the soft clatter and banging of tools on metal and wood, the air muffling them as it brought me the chatter of the people below. I stood on the Bounty's deck to look down at everyone to keep a watchful eye all the while to listen in on their conversations and worries. Many were worried and afraid, asking one another what could be going on or if they were even safe. Other's checked on their families or talked to a stranger, taking this as a chance to meet new people. I smiled at them despite the unease I felt because of how they had been brought into a fight that wasn't their own. I couldn't even begin to imagine or fathom how many people that had been unable to make it to the Bounty or evacuate the city; I hadn't even heard anyone speak of it. Maybe they didn't want to think of it either, all the possible lives lost? I crossed to the opposite side of the Bounty to look in the direction of the city, though I knew I wouldn't be able to see it from here. Still, it was a hopeful thought. The Stone Warriors weren't even there anymore but, for now, we played better safe than sorry, far from the city. I still worried for those who'd been left behind. I pushed off the railing and crossed back to the side where the ninja was working and the people wandered below.
Lightly swinging my legs over the railing, I pushed off and dropped down several feet before the air caught me in its comforting grasp and carefully sat me on the platform that Nya stood on. She raised, her brows furrowing in frustration as she sighs loudly. She wipes her arm across her forehead and glances to the side as a pipe breaks loose and oil comes flooding out of it and all-over Jay's face.
"Ugh, useless pile of junk!" He cries out, throwing the wrench he held onto the platform in frustration. I couldn't help but giggle softly at the scene though I also leaned down to help wipe some of the oil off of his face with my sleeve. My gi can always be washed, after all. He gave me a grateful smile and stood after we both got all that was possible off.
"It's honestly worse than I feared; the rotors on the starboard booster are destroyed," said Nya as she glanced between us due to the small exchange. Over my time here, me and Jay had gotten closer. I could honestly consider him a close friend of mine, maybe an older brother figure. Nya interrupts my thoughts, however, as she continues speaking-not like I could understand half of what she was talking about, though.- "The port booster's are shot from the strain. Oh, sorry guys," she turns away from Jay and I to look at the three males across from us, "she's not getting airborne anytime soon."
"So if the Stone Army attacks again, we're sitting ducks?" Cole asks with a worried expression.
"Uh, ducks can fly, Col. Weren't you listening?" Jay stupidly counters, earning a mental facepalm from me.
"We just got our tails handed to us and barely destroy a few of them; well, (y/n) and Lloyd could barely destroy a few of them. I hate feeling helpless." Kai exclaims as he rakes a hand throw his already messy hair. At the mention of our names at the same time, mine and Lloyd's eyes meet and a blush creeps up from my neck to my face as I remember the scene between the two of us whenever I thought my end had come. Through my distracting thoughts, I hadn't noticed it as Wu and Zane approached from below.
"We mustn't give up hope, Kai," Sensei spoke with that all-knowing wisdom of his. Lloyd stepped closer to the edge, followed by Kai, as he looked down at his aged uncle.
"The Stone Army is nearly indestructible, you saw it. Even with the use of our combined power, at best me and (y/n) could take down only 10 of them if they're in such large groups as they had been." Lloyd exclaimed, earning a soft nod from me.
"Not entirely," Misako spoke as she walked to stand by Wu and Zane. "There's more that can be done to quicken the use of your powers, and it's told within the scrolls."
