When my little brother Ace was born , we found out that he was deaf.  Ace was a great kid. He was always nice to everyone but everyone wasn't so nice back. Yes, he couldn't hear but that shouldn't stop anyone from being friends with someone. Right? As far as I knew, I was his only friend and I was totally okay with that. We are 10 years apart but he wasn't like all the nasty little siblings I've heard about. He was actually really respectful when it came to my stuff and space and other teenage boy things. Since Ace was 4 , every morning I would bring him to a near by park that was only a 3 minute walk from our living quarters. This fit in really well with my schedule; 6:30-wake up get ready, 7:10-take Ace to the park and maybe even get some snacks, 8:00-make and eat break fast, 8:20-relax a bit, 8:30-start home school. This worked very well for my family, or what was left of it. Our parents died when I was 3, so our aunt took us in. She lived alone and she was the CEO of a furniture company. She was rich but she was very loving and supportive. But she wasn't around much. And that was totally okay because we had Axle , He used to be an assistant of my aunt but was assigned to be our caretakers while she was one on trips or out for long meetings.

Right now it it 7:15 and me and Ace were at the park. Nothing really changed at the park. Except for this one kid who would come every time we did and would sit in a shady part of the grass a little far away from us. He did this since Ace was 4, and now hes 7. He wasn't creepy, in fact, he looked completely harmless. He wasn't skin and bones but was definitely not toned and in shape. He looked my age. He had very pale skin, the prettiest baby blue eyes, and the darkest black hair I had ever seen. He wore gigantic round glasses that would slip down his nose every now and then, the biggest most over sized sweaters you could imagine ; they were so big you could see his collar bone when it slipped down a little, black ripped jeans with chains hanging off the sides, vans, and his hair was always so fluffy looking. It was always in his face covering his eyes, it was so cute.

Ace was playing hide and go seek with one of his only friends beside me, Harper. Both of her parents were deaf so she was very good at signing. I was enjoying a book and the sight of my little brother playing when I noticed the boy again. He sat near the shade picking and blowing on dandy lions. He looked so flawless when streaks of sun light painted across his skin.  He looked so peaceful and un-bothered. I didn't even notice I was staring until I saw a small kid start waddling and making their marry way towards him. I squinted and looked closer till I came to the realization that it was my fucking brother holy shit! I ran over going to get as I thought of this as a great way to introduce myself

I ran up to my brother and told him to go back and play with Harper in sign. I turned around and was greeted with the prettiest face on the planet. He just looked at my with wide eyes and blushed. So freaking cute. He was sitting with his knees to his chest with his hands placed under his thighs. I cleared and throat and threw my hand in front of his face. "Hey, I'm Griffin" I said, adjusting my body to sit crisscross in front of the shy boy. The boy looked up, his hair casting a curtain over his eyes. He let out a small, shy "Hi" , which was then followed by an "i-i'm Echo." He  wrapped his small hand around my first 4 fingers and shaking it slightly. I smile and let out a chuckle, "Nice to meet you Echo" I take my hand away and scoot a little closer. "You come here a lot" I said. His reply made me worry a little. "It's better then being anywhere else" he said with a small sigh. My face dropped. It did so even more after the fact that i checked the time and saw that it was already 8:05!! "Hey, i'm really sorry i have to go" i said in a rush getting up. " He stood up as well and played with the bottom of his grey sweater. "Do you have to go" He said in a whisper, his words getting quieter as he went on. "Yeah...sorry" I said stuffy my phone into my pocket. All of a sudden he made a small whine sound and made grabby hands at my hand. I gave it to him and rubbed the middle of his palm while he wrote something. I waved bye and I was off.

As I got home I slumped down onto my couch and sighed. I looked at my hand and saw a number written on it. I smiled to myself and let the memory play on and on in my head. Until Axle reminded me of my duties and I was soon for filling them while thinking of that special boy...Echo <333
