On a nice day with a cool breeze, one could find the Grace Field children having fun. They were running through the woods of Grace Field House, hiding from the predator. Norman chased them all down using his logic and reasoning. One by one they fell.
Until only two were left.
It was always those two left. Norman and Emma. Emma was always quicker than him, but he was always one step ahead of her. Despite knowing she'd be caught the moment he laid eyes on her, Emma couldn't stop herself from laughing. Norman could easily follow her laughter through the trees. As much as a disadvantage as that was, he was at one too. Her laughter was contagious, after all.
As soon as he grabbed Emma by the sleeve, he caused the both of them to tumble and fall. They rolled to the ground, laughing for the fun of it. But even before they could get the chance to talk to one another, they heard an echo and a chime of bells ring through the woods.
"Dinner's ready!" Mama Isabella called out. Looking at each other, the two gave each other a smile before helping the other to stand up. As the children walked back towards the house, Norman trailed behind Emma.
He watched her hair. Her figure. He saw how innocent and carefree she looked.
As he trailed behind Emma, he passed by the tree. Ray, who was sitting under it, looked up at Norman.
"Why are you smiling?" Ray asked the white-haired boy.
Norman turned to him, blinking in surprise. "What do you mean?" Norman asked back.
"Do you not realize it yourself?" Ray asked him slowly, "You're smiling. You have a happy-go-lucky grin on your face."
Norman felt his cheeks tense up. He slowly realized that he was, indeed, still smiling. The game was over, so why would he still be smiling?
And that's when he realized it was because he was still thinking about her.
"Boss," Vincent called out, startling Norman. Norman looked at his surroundings and realized he was in his office. He was supposed to be doing paperwork, but at some point, his hand must have stopped moving. A daydream. He started remembering the past.
"What's wrong?" Vincent asked, walking up to Norman's desk. His eyes glanced down at the papers. "You won't be able to make it to the party at this rate, you know."
Norman gave a low chuckle, waving Vincent off with his hand. "You underestimate me, Vincent," Norman told him, "I'll be going to that party no matter what."
The party to say farewell to Emma and Ray. As expected, no one was against it. Rather, they were worried and somewhat lonely, knowing that the two would be gone for quite some time. Still, everyone helped the two with the preparations. The pair were to leave the next day at dawn after a full night's rest.
But tonight was the big night. The party in which everybody was excited for. All the children made sure to decorate the whole house, streamers and balloons flooded the halls. The dining area was turned into a ballroom, and everyone was to dance.
Emma took longer to get ready than usual. It wasn't like she wanted to be fancy though. She was totally fine with jumping into some random dress and heading out. But as soon as she tried to do that, Gilda and Anna grabbed her and made her sit down in a seat.
"Emma, you're the star of the party! You can't just go out wearing any dress!" Gilda scolded.
"But that takes too long!" Emma argued back.
"Oh, and we must do your hair!" Anna said, clapping excitedly, "You should wear make-up too! You'll be absolutely stunning!"
Emma groaned hearing these words coming out of these girls mouths. They powdered her face. They made her try on thousands of dresses. Every time Emma thought one looked fine, she'd inevitably end up in a new dress in the next 5 minutes.
