Karen's POV
"KAREN, NO WAY," Lea disagreed - if you don't remember Lea, she's my best friend.
"If James isn't trying to get you back, it means he never loved you. Stop being so stubborn and just follow our advice, for once." She continued, acting like a bitchy slut.
Now I'm wondering if she really is my best friend.
"Yeah, Ren. This isn't something you need to worry about. Lea will take care of everything for you. Just follow her advice! Look at me now; I'm living a happy life with my two best friends. All because I followed Lea." Grace's high-pitched tone sounded so plastic, it made me want to barf.
Oh, and I know, I sounded like some mean backstabbing friend after saying that, but at this point I didn't really care anymore.
"Look, you don't need to worry about me, guys. I'll deal with this by myself, okay?" I requested in a smooth, calm, and collected voice.
So far, so good. My temper was under control. For now.
With her high and mighty posture, Lea stood up from her seat and said, "fine. It's up to you, but if you ever need our help again, don't you dare ask us."
"Come on, Grace, over to my house now. We can hang out with Karen when she's finally gotten ahold of herself." Lea, again, ordered.
Sometimes I really wonder why Grace follows her around like some small and powerless slave.
She has her own life to take care of, so why was she doing this to herself? I knew she had some beauty, confidence, and leadership somewhere in there, but she just hasn't found it yet, I guess.
Someday, I confided in my guts, Grace would be a much better person than Lea. She would rise to the throne and take Lea down. One day, I just knew it.

My mind was filled with thoughts of whether or not I should remain as one of Lea's so called followers, and stay up on the popularity charts, or befriend her and let my all my popularity and hard work go down the drain. Letting my popularity sink would only cause many more problems for me, but I just couldn't stand Lea anymore.
That's life, though. Once you get rid of one problem, in comes another.
And then I thought of Grace.
Oh, how much I pity her.
She deserves a friend. The only ones she has right now are Lea and I, but I'm sure everyone can see how badly Lea treats her. Even I haven't been a good friend.
I have a feeling I should make it up to her, somehow.
Calling her up, I greeted, "hey, Grace! Do you wanna come over to my house and hang out?"
Pausing for a moment, she accepted the offer using the words, "sure! I'll be there soon. Maybe in... twenty minutes? Just give me time to change my clothes, because my huge ass of a brother spilled his drink on me."
Laughing at that incident, I replied, "okay. See you in twenty."

"With no offense at all, Karen, I'm just wondering... Why now?" Grace had arrived at my humble - okay, maybe not so humble - home exactly fifteen minutes ago.
I wondered out loud, my head spinning and feeling confused, "what do you mean?"
"Why now, did you invite me? I mean... you never hang out with me. I'm always just this third-wheeler. Aren't I?"
Shocked, I answered, "I just realized I've been a sucky friend for the past few years, and... You deserve much more than you've been getting. Oh, and no! You are not a third-wheeler! You've never been!"
"So this is all a pity feast or something?" She asked.
"No! Of course not!" I denied.
"Oh. Okay. So you actually do wanna hang out with me?"
"Of course, Grace!" I insisted. "Now, I'm gonna go an make us some snacks, and while I'm at it, you can go pick a movie for us to watch. Okay?"
Then she replied with a glint in her eyes, "I think we both know which movie I'm about to pick."
"Wait, what movie?" I asked, slightly tilting my lips to display my confusion.
"Mean Girls, duh!" Was her sarcastic response.
