Night now fell down upon Satellite and the City, allowing the beautiful glow of the market lights to glisten along the streets. The midnight blue of the sky merged with the strong vibrancy of streetlights. The streets themselves were quieter; most had returned to the City or their own homes, whilst some Satellite residents milled around still. Most of the market sellers had packed in, leaving behind empty stands coated in the luminous rays of the moon. The scene itself was tranquil, an air of serenity perusing through.
Everything was tranquil, except for a raven-haired Signer fleeting through the streets on his cacophonous bike, revs echoing through the quiet streets of Satellite. But Yusei couldn't stop to admire the view or join the relaxed nightlife - he was on a mission to hunt down his friend, the missing fugitive whom he had to capture and interrogate.
But Crow was not in the vicinity, was the conclusion Yusei found after extensive searching all throughout Satellite.Yusei parked up, skidding his Duel Runner on a verge at the edge of town. He walked through the thin alleyway of the B.A.D area, an area Crow normally scouted. Yusei arrived at Crow's old hideout, which had the best view of Neo Domino in all its glory. The City's skyline resonated with the city lights, glistening against the midnight sky.
After walking around Crow's hideout, Yusei gazed up at the looming silhouette of Daedalus Bridge climbing into the sky. He recollected the tale of the man who drove off the Daedalus Bridge, a story Crow would always retell sentimentally.
Yusei walked up the makeshift bridge, hand skating over the railings. As he reached the top, he glanced down at the newly constructed bridge between City and Satellite, then his vision flickered up to the night sky, swarmed by stars glittering amongst the darkness.
"A beautiful night like this should be spent with someone else."
Yusei froze. That voice was Crow's, he knew from instinct. He glanced over his shoulder and turned around to face the red-head who had begun walking up the bridge to join his Signer friend.
"C-Crow!" Without hesitation, Yusei ran down the bridge to greet Crow, rushing into a hug which pushed Crow aback in shock.
"Gah, Yusei! A hug? Did ya miss me that much?" Crow giggled sheepishly, nevertheless hugged back.
"Martha said you left early and didn't return, and Jack said he had no idea where you went. I feel bad I didn't notice until late... Sorry."
Crow smiled, glancing over his dishevelled friend.
"It's OK, Yus! I know you worry too much so I'm glad you didn't notice. I was busy, anyway..."
Yusei remembered Martha's words, paying closer attention to Crow. He hadn't realised as it happened, but Crow had only hugged him with one hand. His other remained behind his back, holding something.
By paying excessive attention to the hidden hand, Yusei hoped Crow would address it.
"Ah, you noticed it?" Crow smirked, gripping his gift tighter.
Here goes... Crow intook a deep breath.
"Can we go up to the top of Daedalus, Yus?" Crow asked, free hand pointing to the top where Yusei had been.
The older Signer glanced up and nodded, turning back to the skyline. They walked in unison, side by side, until reaching the edge of the bridge.
A cool air blew through Crow's upright hair, shifting the red strands calmly. He inhaled this cool air, turning to face Yusei, gift shifting in his hands.
"Crow, what's up?"
Yusei knew what was up, but Crow needed some pushing.
"Y-Yusei... I just... I went hunting for something a-and I..." Crow was stuttering heavily, and Yusei felt bad pushing him and playing the fool.
Crow brought the gift from behind his back, presenting it to Yusei hastily to replace his lost words.
"I got t-this for you!"
A bright red tinge flushed Crow's face as he bit his lip whilst offering the small item to Yusei.
The gift itself was wrapped in a brown paper with a thin rope keeping it all together with a bow.
"Crow... You didn't have to..." Though Yusei knew it was coming, he felt warm seeing a small, cutely wrapped gift from Crow.
"It's not much... I couldn't afford much and I- I didn't know... I just wanted to thank you, for everything you do for me and Jack... And just generally for being a-amazing... A-an amazing friend..."
"Crow..." Yusei put his hands on Crow's, sharing the grip of the gift. "You don't have to thank me, and not like this. I should thank you for how amazing you've been, and you do so much for us in prep for the WRGP..."
Crow was now the one feeling fuzzy inside, and almost felt himself swoon from Yusei's words. He wiped a tear from his eye, then enthusiastically pushed his gift into Yusei.
"Open it!! I wanna know if you like it!"
"I'll like it no matter because it's from y-"
Yusei's cheesy remark was cut off by the impatient Crow pushing the gift in his face.
Giving in, Yusei took the gift and began removing the string. The paper came away quickly without the string holding it together, and Yusei's eyes fell upon the small trinket in his gloved hands.
"A-a... A clay figure? Is it... Stardust?"
The little beige figure in Yusei's hands seemed to be vaguely in the shape of his ace, Stardust Dragon. Though small, the little details of Stardust's eyes, wing lines and even claws were sketched and etched into the clay form.
"I... I found a stall selling portions of clay and I made some makeshift tools out of junk... It's not good but I tried to make it resemble Stardust..."
"Crow, I love it! It's hand crafted and means so much... Thank you!" Yusei hugged Crow, holding the clay figure in his spare hand.
"I'm glad it's ok! It's just a thank you... A-and... And to say that I..."
Yusei blinked, knowing what was coming. He smiled, watching Crow's face redden as he shifted in his place.
"It's to say... I l... Lo... Like..."
"Crow, I have a gift for you too, to say thank you for everything."
He... He has a gift for me?
The red-headed Signer looked up, eyebrow raised in confusion. Crow wasn't expecting a gift back - Yusei had nothing besides his clay figure in hand, nor had anywhere to keep a little gift on his person.
Yusei held Crow's hand with his free hand, tugging Crow closer.
As the moon brightly shone in the dark sky, and as twinkling stars fluttered in the midnight air, above city lights which buzzed below... Yusei leant in and kissed Crow on the lips, holding his hand tight.
A shocked Crow remained shocked upon the contact, but as the cool breeze calmed, he settled in to the embrace.
After they pulled away, Crow looked at Yusei's face highlighted in the moonlight.
Yusei gazed at Crow's face staring back at him. The raven-haired Signer chuckled, holding Crow's hand tighter. Yusei's calm voice reached Crow, being carried by the gentle breeze.
"A beautiful night like this is better spent with someone else. Someone like you, Crow."
