The universe has a habit of fucking with us. A moment where you were certain you were going to die, can lead to the best thing to happen in your life.
Or the worst.
Light. That was the first thing I saw. Having light blinding me was becoming a regular thing.
Slowly my eyes adjusted. I was in exactly the same position I had been knocked out in, except the ceiling was tiled and the floor was soft. My mind was still as blank as a white canvas, apart from there was a sharp pain at the back of my head now.
After realising I wasn't dead yet, though after everything that happened I wasn't eliminating the possibility this was the afterlife. I slowly sat up, trying to ignore the ringing in my ears. There was a tube connect to my arm, leading to an IV drip.
I was in a hospital room. It had a huge window filling up half the wall next to me. I was lying on the only bed in the room, explaining why the floor felt soft. But I couldn't explain anything else. Once again it was a blank. My mind buzzed with questions (and pain) how did I get here? What happened to Mingyu and Wonwoo?
Frustrated, I stared out of the window on my left. The window was overlooking a garden, with a huge cherry tree standing in the middle. The pink blossoms were framed by a baby blue sky. So it was spring?
Click. A door opened nearby.
My heart jumped and I whipped my head round. Part of me was scared that Mingyu would be the one walking through that door. Instead a young man dressed in a long white coat walked in. He had his back to me as he rummaged through a closet in the corner of the room. I could hear his soft humming. He ran a hand through his messy hair.
I coughed awkwardly, feeling like I was spying on him.
He continued his search, humming loudly.
"Ahem! Erm excuse m-" I raised my voice slightly.
He flinched and straightened up quickly, before spinning round. He had a slight blush painted across his cheeks, but he grinned widely nonetheless. Cute.
"Oh you're awake! Sorry I didn't notice you before, I guess you got to see me coming out the closet a second time. Lucky you." He chuckled.
I stared at him, tongue-tied. I was at a lose for how to respond. It didn't help that he was probably the most beautiful person I had ever seen, memory or no memory. He had short messy chestnut hair, which he was ruffling embarrassedly. I couldn't stop my eyes travelling down to his breathtaking cat-like eyes. They were warm and kind. He had strong cheekbones and a slightly square jawbone. He was one of those people that had an aura of calmness.
He noticed the lack of response. He smiled again, kindly. Jesus, did he ever stop smiling? I felt heat creep up my cheeks.
"How do you feel? Any better?" He walked up to my bed. He pulled up a chair next to my bed. He gently took my arm and checked the drip. His hands were soft. He smelled of soap and antiseptic, soothing scents. I shook my head, trying to get rid of these thoughts.
He looked up expectantly.
"F-fine, I guess" Damn, stupid stutter.
"Great! The drip can be taken out in a couple of days. It's such a privilege to look after cops, my sister was a cop before-" He chattered as he stood up and moved away from the door.
My heart jolted as I realised something he said.
"Erm excuse me"
He stopped in the doorway.
"Am I a cop?"
This is a m e s s but whatever lmao.
