Beam's POV

Thunderstruck by the unexpected apparition of our rude friend, Doctor Patchaya and I looked at each other in amazement; how can fate be so crude, twisted, and so unexpected?! He wai-ed to the dean and entered the office. For a moment the latter's eyes and mouth were frozen wide open in an expression of stunned surprise when he lay eyes on us. We all wai-ed to each other out of respect for our first formal meeting.

Dean: This is Jaturapoom Jamornhum, also known as Forth. He is the head-hazer of this year.

Doctor Prachaya: Nice to meet you. So you are in third year?

Forth: I'm in my second year

Dean: He is the youngest head-hazer the university ever had

I could see the eyes of the dean sparkling with admiration while talking about Forth; the handsome head hazer. And Forth was completely neutral about all the praise: what a show-off. We then discussed how the medical team is of high importance to the hazing team. I couldn't understand why they put so much importance in that so-called hazing, they just could cancel that thing. How can it be compared to the safety of the students?! I just didn't get it at all. After the short briefing, we went outside.

Doctor: Let's work together peacefully

Forth wai-ed to us and went away.

Me: Wow! What a rude guy!!

His cold attitude pissed me off and I will have to work with him for the coming three months. It gonna be a long and tedious internship. My dear mentor then showed me the place I will mainly be, that is, a small room next to the gymnasium.

Doctor: The Hazing will be mainly be in the gymnasium, on the track field which is just outside, or in the engineering faculty. So, it will be more practical to have you near.

It was still eleven in the morning and Doc Prachaya already left to let me make myself comfortable with the room. It was already well equipped with the basic medications and basic medical equipment. My small cabinet was cosy, and I really like it, I will call it my cocoon. There was a bed, a refrigerator to keep blood samples and some specific medication, a large cabinet to keep the equipment and medication, a desk with a PC already installed, two chairs for patients, one leather chair for me and a hanger with my white coat hanged.

The day went smoothly, I was able to treat some of the random students that passed by for a mild headache or scratch on the knees. It was nearly time for my main duty; the hazing. Devoured with a severe and deep curiosity, I sneaked out of my room and peeked in the gymnasium. With a pounding heart, I scrutinise the hall with the hope of witnessing something interesting, but nothing. It was empty. I was left disappointed. It was probably in another location or maybe it was too early, who knows.

My stomach growled and I squirmed trying to silence the rumbling, it was no use. I was so hungry. I went off to eat something. The food at the nearby café was good. I happily came back to my office.

Guy: Do you understand?!!

I stood aghast at the sudden shout I heard coming from the gymnasium as I pass by. I slowly have a glimpse of what was happening there. It was Forth standing in front of a large group of students. He was even more intimidating. Even I feel my legs trembling.

Forth: you are not my junior until you have this!

He said as he shows a bracelet with a gear pendant.

Forth: Gear

Forth: Gear emerged from the cog system. Missing only one piece, the system is not able to work. This badge is the sign of engineering. It represents pride and dignity. Before you receive this badge, you will have to understand the word SOTUS.
