We made it out of the woods a day later hungry and thirsty. We did what we knew and ran to the nearest store. I bought us some drinks as cold as ice and salted nuts. It wasn't much but it was excellent to us. When we were done we went to our aunt's house on a bus. We were getting stared at because it looked like my little sister was my daughter. As soon as we got in her house she thought the worst had happened.
"It finally happened, didn't it?" She said when we entered
"Yes, that is why we are here. We were told to come here and leave our home so we would not die." I say "I already told Alex about us. Hopefully, he won't mess up this time"
"What do you mean 'this time' Clara." She questioned me about.
"I told my friend, and he told everyone," Alex told her.
The next day was my first day at my new school. The hallways were as bright as the sun. It was as if a million highlighters spilled out onto the walls. Crisp autumn air filled the halls and the scent of apple pie filled the air. But, as soon as I opened my locker everything became gloomy and mysterious. There were whispers like always and, most likely, they were about the new girl. I struggled to do simple things like open my locker and get to my classes when there was always a stampede of students in the halls. In my first class, I could only hear the birds chirping as we were taking notes. At lunch, I get a hamburger and a slice of apple pie. I became known as the klutz when I dropped everything and a girl in one of my classes, Graci Rod, helped me pick everything up. Graci is 12 like me and we are around the same height. She has unicorn hair or a blinding mix of blonde, pink, blue, and purple hair. Also, she likes this cartoon cat called Pusheen and has a little brother named Gu. She has suspicions that I'm a werewolf from the beginning but now she looks at me differently like I'm a monster. A is not an area that we are not welcome in but came anyway hoping for a new life but instead, we got somebody to already figure our lives out and how they will end. The worst part is that she is the most truthful person I've met in this school so far. I hope Alex and Rachel had a better day than me. I can't stand to see them when their upset. I stay after school and take out my crafting bag. I get to work. The first thing I do is take out every bit of trash thrown in here and it already looks brighter. I also scraped out a million wads of gum and paper in there. Then I wipe it out dry is and put in marble contact paper. I put a rose gold shelf in the locker and a rose gold chandelier from a metal shelf. Suddenly it looks as bright as a rainbow in there.
When I get home the first thing I see is my little brother running up to me.
"How was your first day here?" I ask excitedly
"Awesome! I met this kid named Gu Rod. Apparently, he has a sister your age." He tells me.
We eat a beef stew for dinner. The stew had small pieces of meat and melted cheese. We go to our room which is really the garage but we put some beds in it and painted it a bright blue to make it our bedroom and then we go to bed. The next day on the way to school I see Graci out of the corner of my eye. She makes eye contact with me and starts to run as fast as lightning.
By the time I get to school, I am late. As I drag myself to homeroom I see it the red paint on my locker that is as bright as a fire truck and something dreadful is written.
The truth is on the pages, beware the wolf.
