The time my mother was bitten it was no big deal. But when it happened to my father we started to panic. The same dog always comes after us. It knew. A werewolf bit my great-great-grandfather many years ago. It shows up now and then but most were just very hairy. Our hair grows faster and you can't cut it evenly. So our hair is always jagged and uneven.

Back to the dog. My brother came as fast as lightning down our street. I immediately knew something was wrong.

"Gu, slow down and tell me what's wrong," I said as calmly as possible.

"Graci, I have no time to explain come quick, it's mom. The dog got her again." He told me. With that, we went down the street like lightning bolts. We saw an ambulance and our mom in it. Without thinking we jumped inside and they drove away. As we closed the doors I saw her. Our mom. She had cuts all up her right leg as if she was mauled by a bear.

"Soon. We need to get that thing soon before it kills us." My dad tells us.

"There's one of them at school. It's not that easy to get rid of them. They always come back." I tell them.

"Maybe they sense something about us, like a feeling inside of them that is just there. Maybe they know that it was their family that did this to us." Gu says "Can't they tell they did this. They turned us into monsters. Into freaks

"Gu, this is hard to tell you, but do you know the new kid at your school Alex?" I ask him.

"Yes, why Graci."

"He, he's one of them. He's her little brother. She also has a sister who's only a baby." I tell them as I get interrupted.

"Now is not the time to talk about this," My father says, "we will expand on this more at home." The silence was unbearable on the ride home. It was as if everybody's mouths were glued shut. Time passed as slow as a turtle. Nothing can compare to the amount of boredom I felt. The pain of knowing the dog would not stop until it killed us was awful. The fact that the dog was still out there was even worse. It felt like somebody dropped the sky on my shoulders. They knew that the dog was alive and would not rest until it got the rest of us. That was the worst part. We would have to reveal our secret to everyone and we will be hated throughout the town. Everybody in Apple Tart would hate us.

We got home late that night. We would never get to talk about this for a long, long time. For soon, we would be the center of the town's attention and, with attention comes loss, some greater than other
