"Now Spinel, don't go too far from us. Yellow, Blue, and I are going to visit Steven. You go have fun and if you run into trouble just come and find us."

White diamond held her dear pink gem in her palm and spoke with a motherly tone. Yellow and Blue Diamond stood on either side of her and the three of them smiled warmly at Spinel. After White Diamond placed her on the ground Yellow Diamond said:

"We promise we aren't leaving you here by yourself, once we're done with our visit we'll go home, okay?"

Spinel looked up and her mother figures with a semi-worried smile and nodded.

"Okay."

Blue Diamond knelt down and said:

"Maybe you'll make a human friend while you're here, or meet one of the uncorrupted gems. I think that would be very good for you. What does Steven tell us? Fun? Anyway, we'll see you in a few hours."

With that, the Diamonds said their goodbyes and Spinel was left alone. She took a deep breath and hugged onto herself. Even though she had a family to call her own now, it still brought her anxiety to be left alone. It would remind her of being alone for all those years in that garden. Even if her life had turned for the better, she would always have the scars from the past. Sometimes she wished she would forget about her past, but that wasn't the best thing either.

Walking around she found a beach and sat down near the shore. Hiding her face down between her bent legs, she twisted her arms around and around herself. She sighed. Maybe she would just wait for hours wondering what the Diamonds were doing without her.

"Hey, are you okay?"

A voice struck her attention. Who was it? Unwrapping herself she looked up and found a human girl with a kind, caring face.

"Who are you?"

Spinel completely ignored the question. There was a chance she didn't even hear it. It bewildered her as to why a human would speak to her, or anyone for that matter. Sometimes she would think about if the people on this part of the Earth knew who she was. She wondered if they hated her for what she tried to do. It would only be appropriate if they did.

"Uh, me? I'm (y/n). You looked upset so I wanted to check on you."

Spinel made a scared face. Who was this girl? Why was she here? What purpose did she have with talking with her.

"Can I sit with you?"

(Y/n) grinned and took a seat in the sand by Spinel. For some reason, she looked genuinely interested in her. Looking at her with big, bright (e/c) eyes, it was pure and innocent looking.

"That's a cool outfit. I like your hair too."

This girl was going a bit too fast for Spinel to keep up. The Diamonds had helped her become more open, but she still had a lot to work on. Thinking of something to say her eyes went from side to side. Worrying her hand went to rest on her cheek.

"Uhm... thanks. I uhm, I like yours too."

She tried to smile as she looked at the other. When Spinel complimented her in return, (y/n) smiled brightly. It was easy to tell that she valued her looks. Smiling a bit to herself she played with a long strand of her hair for a second. She looked off for a second, but looked back at Spinel and said:

"Thanks! I work hard on my hair, so that's a big compliment..."

This girl was rather pretty. She wasn't sure what to do. Should she try and make her laugh? That was all that she really knew how to do. Juggle, play games, tell jokes-- she wasn't very good at conversation.

"Would you like to hang out?"

(Y/n) asked, making Spinel give her a confused look. "Hang out" she wasn't sure what that meant.

"Yknow, spend time together."

Spinel blushed, no one but the Diamonds had really wanted to do that with her. Thinking about it made her feel a bit flustered. Blue Diamond did say it would be good if she made a friend.

With hesitation, Spinel eventually replied with:

"Yes. Let's... hang out."

Practically beaming, (y/n) stood up and gestured off towards Beach City.

"Awesome! Then let's go!"
