Once the portal ended we were in a forest with a small cabin outside. Meagan yells at me through the cover of the book.
"That is my safe house please go inside I am expecting someone," she said through a muffled cover. I open the door and wander inside.
"Hello is anyone, home," I yell. I hear the pulling of a bow behind me. I turn around and see a girl my age pulling at a bow at the door of the house. "I am not here to hurt you," I said calmly.
"What are you doing here?" She looks at my wrist spotting my bracelet and glares harder. I look at her back and find majestic brown dragon wings.
"I am Elizabeth Rogers, but you can call me Liz," I said to the girl. "A friend told me to come here.
"Nice to meet you, Liz. One question, how did you find this place?" Kaley asked.
I didn't know what to say. "I found a talking book and she took me here."
"Can I see her?" Kaley asked
"Sure," I open the book and Meagan Stretches, she sees Kaley.
"Oh, my is that Kaley?" She kneels to Kaley. "You have grown up so much!"
"Meagan?" Kaley covers her mouth as tears run down her face. "They said you were d-d-dead. I was heartbroken-n."
Meagan rubbed her back as she sobbed.
"They are hunting Carter," Kaley's voice quavered and the shock on Meagan's face told me that, that was a huge problem.
"Have they caught him yet?" Meagan asked her eyebrows pressed together.
"No, It has been a few months and the search has calmed down a bit, but there are still guards everywhere." Kaley Informed.
"Well that is good," Meagan said a little calmer.
"May I ask, Who is Carter?" I asked. Meagan made eye contact with Kaley.
"He the prince of Mackala," Meagan said. "That's why it is so vital that we find him first." Turning back to Kaley.
"I think I will take Liz to the village. I have some spare clothes she can wear because you won't fit in like that," Kaley said with some real concern.
--
I walked out of the bedroom feeling a lot more comfortable and excited to try something new. I was pale and I glanced into a mirror. My dress was at knee-length and long sleeves with tons of pockets for weapons?
"Liz, you ready to go?" Kaley yelled.
"Coming," I said back. I walked down the stairs and Meagan In full hologram form. Kaley gave me a satchel and a cloak as well.
--
I look up a little bit as we approach a tall wall with a large arch. We got into a small line and saw some guards. "Hey what's with the Knights?" I whispered. They shone as the sun reflected off them.
"Remember when I said they were looking for Carter, these are the precautions," She whispered back. "Say your name is Hanna... Bilafer."
I glanced up again making notes of the large crossbows. I scanned the crowd as well as I felt a shiver go down my back. We arrived at the front of the line and Kaley and I watch her take her cloak off as she hands it to the guard. I do the same. Then she gave me the 'continue this conversation' look. "Like I was saying isn't Justin just the cutest?"
I smile trying to give a small smile. "Adorable really. His brown eyes are a dream's." I am handed my stuff back and put it back on. I walk under the arch and gasp. Buildings line the streets as we walk along. Large carts with merchants, people all around, people with horses, Kaley pulls me aside.
"Here look around meet me here when the sun meets midway?" I glance at the sun and nod. I walked along the busy street until I make it to a large abandoned building. The building looked old. The windows were boarded up and the door was covered as well. I walked around it to the back. I looked back there and noticed a door that was cracked open. I pushed it open and it slowly creaked open and I stepped in.
