I took the first step into the musty dark store. The tall shelves stood towering over me as I walked to the counter. There was a thick layer of dust on the counter. I noticed that everything was fully stocked so I opened my bag and wandered to the medicine section. I read some of the medicine and I don't think that unicorn horn drought is a thing, as well as nectar? I finished putting some of the medicine in the bag, I saw this large bookshelf full of books. I grabbed some of the books then I heard a creaking noise far to the door so I inched to the origin of the sound.
My bracelet started to glow and I stopped. I glowed brighter till I was put into a chokehold. I tried to struggle but it was no use. "Let go, please," I croaked at the guy.
"Let her go, Carter," A boy behind me said. My eyes widened in realization. I felt them loosen his grip aganst my neck. I elbowed their chest and I grabbed my knife, pointing it at Carter, the boy who put me in a chokehold. It was soppy. I will admit that.
Carter slowly inched away from me. The blond boy looked at me and smiled at me and laughed at Carter. "That is what you get from threatening a girl."
I smirked at him. "Well if you're the Carter I am thinking of I have two friends that would be very happy to see you," I said.
"Well I am a Hayden so yes I am who you think I am," Carter said as he ran his hand through his messy brown hair. Then Carter's hand shot out to me and an orb. That orb shot at me and I swung my arms into a protective position and then the weirdest thing happened, a small bright white shield hovered in front of me. Once it faded I saw the look on there faces, utter shock. Then the other boy walked up to me with a small smile.
"Hi I am Bennet and this is Carter. We are like you. Have you seen the king recently?" Bennet said in a soft kind voice.
"Wait you guys have a-" I was interrupted by the door getting banged down by Kallie.
"Lizzy? We have to go. Oh my god, Carter? Bennet?" Kallie stood in the doorway.
"Kallie?" Carter and Bennet said simultaneously.
Kallie snapped out of it first. "We have to move. They know we are here. Come on we need to get to the roof. Lizzy? We are going to teach you to use your powers."
Kallie then turned to the stairs and ran to them using her wings to boost herself up. Then we ran after her.
--
We reached the top of the abandoned building and there were tons of knights on the street, pushing and running to our building. I turned to where we came up to the roof, Kallie had her hand extended and her eyes were closed. Thick vines covered the entrance. Then she turned to me. "Ok Lizzy. I need you to focus on making a fire blase up in the air then explode the blast."
I lift my arm to the sky my hand flat. I felt ridiculous standing there like that. Then I hear Carter. "Here let me help," Cater stood so my back pressed against his chest, his hand reached mine and her rearranged my hand so it pointed up and he pulled my fingers up too.
"Relax. It helps you release any magic needed," Carter said. I was anything but calm. This was my first contact with a boy willingly. My face was heated and I was as red as a beet. I took a deep breath and focused on making an orb of fire. Soon enough a small ball of fire was in my hand. I thought it was burning me so I threw it up in the air and a half a second later it exploded.
Kallie smiled then beckoned me forward to her. I joyfully walked up to her. "I saw you blushing when you were with Carter," Kallie smirked at Lizzy.
"I was not!" I said loudly. Then my face reddens as the boys look over at me. At that moment, There was a sound of footsteps against the stairs and there was a shove against the trap door. I look at Kallie who had her wings spread, ready to fly.
"Let's go, guys, those vines are not going to hold for long and the moment they see you Carter they will gas us all," Kallie ordered, after that, she jumped across the street, off the roof, to the other row of buildings. I turned back to the boys seeing they were getting ready to jump so I back myself up to the edge of the roof and ran. I leap as hard as I could. I get over the rim and tumble onto the roof. I saw that the boys were ready to jump so I moved and Bennet jumped first.
The vines on the roof broke as soon as Bennet landed. The burst made Carter turn around. The knights took a fight stance. Then they parted to let through a more athletic guy. He had brown hair and hard facial features. Honestly, he looked a lot like me. Carter looked at him and glared.
"Hello, Michael Foster," Carter said to the teen. "Wait, Foster?" I thought. That is my last name...
"Carter Haden," Michael sneered at Carter with a large smirk on his face.
I jump across with my knife in hand. The guards point their weapons at me. "Woah, Woah, Woah, Boys please I know we have long rivalry come on can't we get the fight started already?"
"Who is this?" Michael asked looking at me from top to bottom like he was trying to analyze me but was unable to.
"Foster Thanks for asking," I kicked him in the chest so hard he flung back and hit a huge pile of hay. Then hell broke loose. Carter's back pressed against mine and he had his sword in his hand. I was throwing fireballs and stabbed people with my knife. We were working together perfectly. At least that was what I thought. I stabbed and blasted while he was slashed and punched. Kallie was shooting arrows and Bennet was shooting people with lightening?
Once all the knights were on the ground unconscious or dead, I turned and smiled at him. There was some blood splatter on my face but I did not care. "Let's go there will be more in a few minutes," Carter said to me. Kallie looked up at the sky and my eyes followed.
"There is our ride," Kallie smiled as a large alicorn landed next to us. The rider looked down at us. Her short blond hair swirled in the wind. Kallie bowed and smiled at the young adult. The rest followed suit. "Thank you, General."
She smiled at the name like she was proud of the hard work she put into it. "Your welcome," The general said kindly. Then she whistled loudly and two pegasi came to us. Then a small smile as Carter extended his hand to me to help me up my sleeve slid down and he gasped as he saw my orange bracelet. He pulled me up to him and he wrapped his arms around my waist.
"Is this ok?" Carter asked as I felt my heart quicken up its pace.
"Yes this is ok," Lillie smiled at Carter. Then we took off. We shot into the air I squeezed his hand as we raised above the clouds.
