Personality, Interests, and Relationships

Personality; Sumire is a rather mysterious woman of few words. Some will often describe her as cold, while others describe her as cunning. She believes in the sayings of "keep your friends close but your enemies closer" and "do not trump your own trick". She keeps her abilities rather hidden and even her fellow pillars are unsure of all the Breathing Styles that her Breath has. She is smart and cunning, but tends to keep it to herself, as she never wants to reveal all her tricks.
Sumire has good intuition and has no issue calling someone's bluff if they are lying. She studies body language, tone of voice, and more to figure out if someone is lying or not. She is like Shinobu in a sense, that she will occasionally tease her friends and can be a bit blunt. She is always composed, even in situations when it seems like she's losing. If she is ever uncomposed, it's safe to say that the battle can not be won. She radiates confidence in battle and borders between brave and reckless because of it.
Without her mysterious facade, Sumire is a tease and a bit awkward. She isn't too good with her words when they aren't riddles or wrapped in mystery, thus making her have a hard time expressing her feelings in words. However, she is a very hands-on person, and will have no trouble expressing her like to a person through hugs, kisses, or cuddles.

"His crown lid up the way as we moved slowly
Pass the wondering eyes of the ones that were left behind
Though far away, though far away, though far away
We're still the same, we're still the same, we're still the same..."

History

Backstory; Sumire and her twin sister were born into a middle class family in late October. Her grandmother, a retired florist, named them both after her favorite flowers.
Sumire grew up in a happy family but had an especially close relationship with her grandmother. She'd help her take care of the garden they had and her grandmother would teach her about flowers, herbs, and more. Her favorite memory was from when she was eleven and she couldn't sleep from a nightmare. Despite knowing that there was the possibility of demons attacking them, her grandmother took her out to the garden to change the violets under the starry sky.
When Sumire was thirteen, tragedy struck; a man that had lived across the road from them was transformed into a demon. He snuck into the house and killed her grandmother, also attacking her mother and father before a Demon Slayer heard the commotion and came to kill him. Sumire grieved for months and in the process, shedded her innocent and carefree personality.
She became serious and mysterious, making her main goal to become a Demon Slayer and prevent this from happening to anyone else. Her family heavily objected and placed heavy restrictions on her, no longer allowing her to leave the house so she'd never find a former slayer to teach her. Her sister helped her sneak out one early morning with only a few parting words; "Don't Die."
Sumire traveled for weeks before she found someone willing to train her, the former Wind Hashira. The hashira trainer her for five years until deeming her ready to go onto Final Selection, which she passed with ease.
Sumire quickly rose through the ranks and became a pillar at eighteen and a half. When Tanjiro and Nezuko were brought in by the pillars, she was the only pillar to voice her opinion; that Nezuko should be allowed to live. She argued that if Nezuko could resist human blood, it could mean that other demons might be able to as well, and they be a step closer to getting rid of demons once and for all.

Abilities

Breathing Style; Breath of Spirit
Description; Breath of Spirit is deprived from Breath of Wind and focused on what was and what will be. It was created by Sumire and allows the users body to become hyper-sensitive, able to sense even the slightest movements and vibrations through the air. Sumire jokes that she can also see ghosts using it, but since she usually knows things that she couldn't have known and has confronted demons about very specific people they've killed without ever hearing of them before, her fellow pillars aren't too sure it's a complete joke.
Breathing Styles;
Breath of Spirit: First Style- "Yūrei Lullaby" • A swift and quick cut to the neck, meant to minimize pain.
Breath of Spirit: Second Style- "Calamity" • The user gathers speed and momentum before unleashing upwards of a hundred harsh and jagged stabs and cuts to the target. It is considered the most brutal of the styles.
Breath of Spirit: Third Style- "Vanishing Soul" •
The user gathers enough speed to seemingly "disappear" when they move. It is usually used for escape or trick tactics but can be tied in with the other styles.
Breath of Spirit: Fourth Style- "Seijun-Sama" • A special attack made by Sumire. She focuses on her grandmother and her past, making her body incredibly sensitive. She described the feeling as time slowing down when she opens her eyes. If she moves in this state, she can leave after images that disappear when hit, making opponents sometimes think she's a ghost herself.
Breath of Spirit: Fifth Style- "Violent Violet" • The user spins and "dances" around a target while delivering carefully placed and timed slices to the body before the "finale", where the user cuts off the head with a flip over the target.
Breath of Spirit: Sixth Style- "Vengeful Melody" • The most simple of the styles, the user makes several quick jabs at the target.

"And in the sea that's painted black
Creatures lurk below the deck
But you're a king and I'm a lion-heart
And as the world comes to an end
I'll be here to hold your hand..."
