100, 000 Year Old Mate

Chapter 2

Over the next few years, Adrian and Drusilla became big parts of Samantha's life. Drusilla was there almost everyday, helping her fellow witches out and she quickly grew to see Sammi as a younger sister. Adrian was there every other day, as he kept his promise to not fall behind in his responsibilities. However every moment he spent with the growing girl, he cherished dearly and every moment he was apart from her he missed her.

However he did not leave his mate unprotected. He had a constant watch of his most trusted shifters guarding Sammi and her family 24/7. The Sanderson's were not people who would be unappreciative of this gesture, and so the shifters that guarded them quickly joined the growing family.

Anyone that met Sammi would instantly fall in love her, how could they not? She was the most adorable and happy child anyone had ever met. She was always smiling and laughing and dancing around, she never walked, she would only dance or skip or run, and not even her guards, who were big and strong and tough, could help falling under her spell. She was instantly seen as a younger sister, that they weren't just ordered to protect, but who they wanted to protect.

Sammi in turn loved all her guards, even though she didn't know they were guarding her, she just saw them as new family members who she could play with every day, and she would get quite upset when she didn't see one of them for more than 3 days.

She especially loved the bear and panther shifters. The bear shifter was just so big and strong, and for a long time she had simply stood there looking up at the huge man in awe.

At first it had worried Ronan, but then she threw herself at him and he couldn't stop from catching her. She then giggled as she beamed at him from his arms, that's when his heart melted for her. They had quickly become best friends and Sammi loved hearing his deep voice and booming laugh, and she loved the way he would throw her up high in the air then catch her easily, even though her parents didn't love it.

There were two panther shifters, Lydie and Carlisle, they were brother and sister and looked almost identical with silky black hair and green cat-like eyes. Every time they saw her they would pick her up and nuzzle her with their faces which she loved doing back. They were the main two shifters that played and laughed with Sammi because they loved kids so much. Sammi also loved it when they shifted because they would purr and wrap their silky bodies around her, and she loved trying to grab their tails, which slipped around her, tickling her.

Then finally the last shifter on her guard duty was Samson, he was a wolf shifter and Sammi had only ever seen his half smile directed at her, otherwise he was always serious and solomn. Sammi always found it amazing that their names were so close so she always called him Sammi. However her parents never left her alone with Samson, and she wouldn't understand why until she was older.

The reason was, that 30 years ago, Samson had lost his pack, that included his little girl and pregnant mate, they were brutally murdered and Samson was the only one that survived, because of this, he felt responsible and for a long time he had been a rogue. When Adrian took him in, he was half crazy and always got into fights. Not many people trusted him except for Adrian, but he was a damn good fighter so Adrian had of course assigned him to protect Sammi. Her parents were worried that it would eventually get too much and he would snap at their little girl so they kept a close watch on him. However Samantha and Samson formed a close bond and by now he was like a close uncle to her.

But the person she liked seeing the most was Adrian, even though he couldn't visit as much as the others, he had a special place in Samantha's heart. She loved the way he would do everything she asked and he always called her princess. They always had the most fun, pigging out on sweets and playing hide and seek together in the forest.
