“ This is not the time to talk, let’s take the girl to a nearby hospital and make sure she’s alright first.” Sabrina said as she picked poor Umaiyah that seemed lifeless.

The moment they reached the hospital, two nurses received them and put Umaiyah on a stretcher and headed to an emergency room.

Amaanee, Jakadiya, Cokali and Sabrina that drived them all stood quitely, trying to figure out what actually happened. Knowing that the environment was not secure to talk, no one asked Cokali for details again.

An hour later, a nurse told them that Umaiyah was fast asleep and the doctor would like to see Jakadiya ( she was specific because that’s the hospital all her girls get treated, so she was well known).

Jakadiya nodded and told the rest to stay together she won’t stay long. After formal greetings, the doctor’s voice turned a different tune that made Jakadiya felt uneasy and anxious to hear what he wants to say.

“ Of all your girls that I treated this is the worst am seeing. I always respect your work because you are smart but what happened at this instance. Umaiyah is just 10 years old, why such a small girl for this horrible job?”

“ Look Musbahu, what the hell is wrong with my girl?” Jakadiya asked getting impatient.

“ Her condition is a rare one, I’ve never in my entire profession came across it. Two things happened; the first is that it’s very clear she has been raped due to third degree tear she sustained in her private part. The astonishment is that there is no sign of blood even a drop at the area which is quite abnormal. The second is that I scanned her to rule out internal damage and I found out that her uterus was missing, which I found quite strange because I could remember I did an ultrasound scan on her last two weeks, how can a uterus decide to disappear without it being removed.” The doctor answered in a worried tune.

Jakadiya was dumbfounded. “ Doctor is the uterus not the womb?” she asked rather confused.

“ Yes it is Jakadiya.” He answered sadly.

“ You made mention of no sign of blood stain on her body? I don’t remember Cokali mentioning that he gave her a bath. What made her collapsed then?” she asked sounding scared.

“ She’s the only person that can answer that question. Base on my assessment all what I could say is that she’s in neurogenic shock for now. Something scared the shit out of her. When I checked her packed cell volume ( PCV ), it was only 20% so a pint of blood was fixed which I left dripping well, she will be transfused at least 4 pints depending on her body’s response. Jakadiya from all indication something is wrong somewhere, take your girls off the streets for some time. Umaiyah is a small girl, I will do all I can to make sure she survive and I will leave the rest to you.” The doctor said firmly.

“ What about the tear you made mention of?” Jakadiya asked.

“ I’ve sutured as required, you can trust me on that, now please excuse me let me check on her. Do let her rest and come visit her later.” He said picking his stethoscope and left the office, leaving Jakadiya all confused and scared for poor Umaiyah.

Amaanee was busy admiring the beauty of the hospital. She kept peeping from window to window. She has never thought this is what a hospital looked like. Everywhere was clean and tidy.

“ This is the kind of place Inna will be treated the moment I save enough money.” She thought smilling.

Amaanee forgot about what Jakadiya told them to stick together because she was engrossed looking around the new environment. Sabrina didn’t bother stopping because she felt Amaanee needed it.
