Tape 1 | Side A________________________________
"So..."
"It's me,"
"Uvel."
"I apologize if I had disturbed you guys in the past two days, but if you have been keeping tabs, you would notice I wasn't in school lately. So I was only able to give you all these envelopes and the tapes as well instead of talking to you all upfront of what I had wanted to say. But, I couldn't do that. Though yes, I had personally put them in place of where you've all found them, before two days ago.
Now Vaughn, don't get worked up yet. I had put the boxes of where these tapes have been contained, last Tuesday night in your desk drawer. The one you only open ritually during Saturday afternoons because it's where you keep all your art supplies when you attend classes. And I know that your little sister - much as your family - is not aware of the current situation, so she let me in. I swear I left immediately. I didn't stay for too long.
I just want to clear that up.
But, this first voice-over is for you Dionne.
And with you, I need to say some things.
I hope the aforementioned 'fifth grade' line rung a bell and finally makes sense to you now.
Do you remember?
Back in the day when I was no more than a stranger in this town, and a new kid in your class. Or another friend to be added in your list by the next two months of that year, who was only able to wear jean shorts to school for a while because I still have to have a uniform tailored.
You were my first someone in this town. The first girl who smiled and sat with me in class. And the companion of weekend strolls around the block. My playdate, as being still so young and little as we were.
We became friends.
Do you remember?
When Mrs. Calvin partnered us up for a painting project. Says that we have to paint something that we would always cherish and keep until the end. And we chose the bridge in the woods, where one time you took me out on an afternoon ride. And we did paint the sunset over there. Mrs. Calvin even gave us an A+ for that.
Do you remember?
It was a Saturday morning and we were in your house. It was my first time there so I was also surprised to see a lot of books in your living room. Even more so, when I found out you like reading too.
And I noticed that most of the books that you had were about pirates, witches and wizzards. Though you tried to convince me to read some of it. But, I didn't really like fantasy that much so I suggested that you just tell me a story you wanted to talk about. You were more than willing to do so. So you rambled about your favorite book all day long and I listened intently, as I was imaginative myself too. I gave it a try to appreciate what someone was passionate about.
