Chapter 1

Nina's pov

I was drawing in my journal of all the different things that I saw at the opening of the cave, I was currently drawing a Raven that was on one of the trees. I heard someone entering the cave making me tense up and stop what I was doing, I look towards the entrance of the cave to see my older brother Lincoln carrying a beautiful girl.

"Who is that brother?" I asked

"This is one of the Sky People." He said softly

I tilted my head with a confused look on my face.

"What's a Sky person?" I asked 

"People who come from the sky." He said while laying the girl down on the floor

I made an "oh" face before going back to my drawing, I saw that Lincoln was about to leave making me look at him with a worried look.

"Brother," I said, "I have a question."

He looked at me calmly making me look at the Sky girl with a worried look.

"What do I do if she wakes up?" I asked

"Make her some food, there's still some water left in the pot." He instructed, "Make sure to boil it."

I nodded letting him know that he can leave, I decided to put my book down on my cot. I got up from the floor before doing what my brother instructed me to do. 

*Couple Hours Later*

I put the glass of water and the bowl of food next to the girl before walking over to my corner, I was about to go back to drawing when I heard a gasp making my head snap in the sky girls direction. I quickly hid behind the corner making sure that she didn't hear me, I saw her look at the food and water confused before looking in my direction making me go deeper in the corner.

"H-Hello?" She asked, "Please, come out. I-I'm not gonna hurt you."

I peek around the corner, again making her give me a comforting smile.

"My name is, Octavia." She introduced, "What's yours?"

"Nina," I mumbled, "my name is Nina."

She smiled at me softly.

"That's a pretty name." She said 

"Thanks," I mumbled, with a soft smile. "your's is pretty, as well."

"You can sit over here if you'd like." She said 

I cautiously walked over to her before sitting in front of her, I sat Indian style before putting my hands in my lap.

"So, are you the only one that speaks English?" She asked

I shrugged my shoulders.

"I don't really know," I said sadly, "I wasn't raised around mt people."

"Why not?" She asked

"They don't like me, they call me a bad omen." I said sadly "They say that I'm too soft . . . Also doesn't help that they say that I murdered my mother." 

Octavia, looked at me scared making me quickly shake my head.

"Not literally, she died giving birth to me," I said sadly

She gave me a pity look before she grabbed one of my hands making me smile at her.

"I lost my mother too." She said sadly

We both smiled at each other before Octavia said the words that I was dreading.

"Why don't you come with me?" She asked determined "Come live with me and my people."

I shook my head making her confused.

"Why not?" She asked

"I'm not allowed to leave the cave." I said, "My brother, made a deal with them so they wouldn't kill me."

"What will happen if you do?" She asked cautiously 

"I'll die," I said quietly, "they will kill me the moment that I step foot out of this place."

Her eyes widened in shock before smiling softly at me.

"Well, even if you don't come with me." She said, "We can still be friends."

I smiled wildly at her making her smile back.

"Really?! I never had a friend before!" I said excitedly

"Well, you do now." She said 

She gave me a hug making me tense up before hugging her back, my eyes watered a little bit but I didn't let them fall. She released me before she stood up and started walking out of the cave.

"Goodbye, Nina." She said sadly

"Goodbye, Octavia," I said back quietly, "stay safe."

I walked back to my corner before laying down in my cot and took a nap. 

"I finally made a friend and she left for her people." I thought sadly "I hope, that I see her again."

After that thought, everything went black.

*A Couple Hours Later*

I was woken up hearing someone screaming bloody murder, I shot up before quickly crawling into my corner. I peeked around the corner to see my brother cauterizing Octavia's wound on her leg, I saw her eyes roll to the back of her head before she passed out. I saw that Lincoln chained her to the pipe in the wall. He turned to me with an angry look making me feel ashamed and frightened. He walked towards me making me lower my head down with a sad look on my face.

"Chit the hell were yu thinking!?" Lincoln said angrily "She could yu don brought em kru hir, Nina. Chomouda would Yu let em ban op?"

"Kos she was nice en Oso became friends." I said sadly

I heard him sigh before I saw him knelt down in front of me, he put his hand on my head making me smile down at my lap.

"Jos nou put yourself raun danger, kei?" He said softly

"Kie." I said

He ruffled my head before he started working on whatever he works on when he's home, I grabbed my book and started drawing again to pass time. I hope she forgives my brother when she wakes up.

Kos she was nice en Oso became friends. - Because she was nice and we became friends.

Jos nou put yourself raun danger, kei? - Just don't put yourself in danger, okay?
