Rome tried to breathe but his vision was becoming darker and darker and his heart was aching. He couldn't believe the reality. P'Pick had finally claimed him. He had even told Rome that he loved him. And then he had woken up with a sudden pain, knowing that his P'Pick was not next to him. No, he had gone and kissed a girl.

Having soulmates was supposed to be magical. Whenever his parents told him their love story, Rome would wonder how his would be. It would surely be beautiful. God made soulmates for a reason right? But then Pick happened.

Rome had not known at first that Pick was the one. But his interest was spiked when he saw how Pick avoided physical contact and also acted tough to hide emotional vulnerability. Rome didn't know how, when and why but to break Pick's wall had become his mission. He would tease the senior whenever possible and he would internally cheer up whenever Pick casually teased him back. It took time for Rome to realize that shit, he was falling for that guy.

Rome had spent a sleepless night to conclude that Pick was in denial and that they were surely meant for each other. Rome decided to pursue Pick. Pick acted rude and arrogant but Rome never gave up. Things that take effort to get are valuable right? But there were times when he was hurt. Like when Pick told him that he looked vulgar in shorts. But through it all, Rome followed his heart. Had he known that this pain was waiting for him, he would've given up.

Emma saw her best friend struggling in his love life. And to fulfill her best friend duties, she tried to set Rome up with another guy. Rome got a call from a drunk Emma and so he rushed to pick her up from the club. But instead, he met a grinning Emma and some handsome guy. The blind date was not a problem. But the fact that Rome started feeling hot was a big problem. His heat was about to start. Emma and Rome quickly moved towards the exit but they were too late. The first wave hit Rome and he fell on his knees almost moaning. The gas of the club did not help. Rome's date shouted for the security as the bartender tried to hold back the crowd of alphas that were beginning to surround him. His vision started becoming blurry. A heavy hand touched his chest. He moaned as a certain smell filled his senses. P'Pick.

He vaguely remembers that a fight broke out for merely five minutes before that smell eveloped him again. Pick was marking him as he hungrily bit Rome's neck. Rome could not deny his soulmate but the fact that they were in a club did not escape him. However, Pick had taken him home and apologized to him. He had even asked for Rome's permission to mark him again and this time properly. Rome had never felt so much happiness in his life. He was smiling through the tears as Pick kissed him slowly but lustily. Rome had given up his virginity to Pick and with no regrets. He had fallen asleep in the arms of someone he loved and admired.

And so when a surge of pain woke him up, he was confused. His P'Pick was there beside him, right? But then he found the space next to him empty. And he clearly saw a girl, smiling at Pick with a sad smile and then she kissed Pick. Rome didn't realize that he was screaming. His hands clutched his chest. His wolf was taking this as a rejection. And Rome knew that no one survived the heart break of their soulmate's rejection. His vision started becoming blurry. He was being enveloped by a frightening darkness. But that darkness somehow comforted him. Maybe, he could hide his tears in this darkness. Maybe he could take out his heart and throw away so that he could stop experiencing pain. Maybe-

Rome's breath hitched. Somebody was kissing him and it was not Pick. He struggled against the body that was hugging him. Pick might've cheated on him but he would not do the same to Pick. He tried to push the body away but he was so weak. He was exhausted after all the events. He just wanted to die peacefully, knowing that Pick would never love him.

Rome started slipping away again. He found death a natural option. But life still loved him. He found the darkness fading away and his vision became clearer, his surroundings became more clearer. He found out that he was moaning and someone was sinking their mark on his neck. Rome panicked.  He pushed the body away hastily and was about to scream when he saw who he was.

"P'Pick!"

The person smiled. Rome noticed that he was not Pick. No, he could not be. Their smile was different. Their smell was different. Rome's heart started beating faster.

He's so beautiful.

Rome's eyes widened as he heard the guy's thought. He touched his neck in a gesture of defense but he knew it was too late.

"You marked me!"

Rome started panicking. He cheated on P'Pick. He cheated on P'Pick. His breath started coming out shorter.

He felt a warm body hug him and a gentle voice started to soothe him.

"Hey. It's alright. It's alright. I'm here. You're good. Ok? I'm here for you."

Rome started calming down. He reluctantly escaped from that warm embrace. He looked at the guy. He looked like Pick but Rome knew he wasn't. Pick wasn't as gentle as him and he smiled much less. The man before him smiled every second.

"Who are you?" Rome asked.

"I am Bright."

"Why did you do this?"

"You would die if didn't do that."

Rome glanced at the door. His heart was pounding. He knew that Pick was coming.

"What does this mean for us? I've already been marked. How did it even work?" Rome wanted to clarify things before Pick's return. He knew Pick's temper. Pick had once punched a guy for touching his butt. Rome somehow wanted to protect Bright and that made Rome guilty. He felt like he was cheating on Pick.

"I don't know... but listen boy, I know you are Pick's soulmate but... were you mistaken?"

Rome's eyes snapped towards Bright. He didn't like where the conversation was heading to.

"What do you mean?"

"I felt it Rome. And I know you felt it too. You are mine."

In a flash Bright's lips were on his. And then he heard a loud curse.

"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?!"

Rome screamed when Pick pulled Bright off Rome and punched him. Bright just smirked.

"That's what you got brother?"

Rome cursed his existence when he realized that Bright was right. They were soulmates. But then Pick was the one...right? Rome knew his dark days were coming.
