⠀FRESH AIR was needed after spending majority of the day locked inside with jimin talking about codes and software that made little sense to anyone that didn't graduate from MIT. jungkook fixed the buttons on his dress shirt as he crossed the street, headlights from cars washing over his form.
the usan's hotel lights sparkled as night closed in, people emerging in dresses and suits ready for a drink and some gambling. a fountain display outside amazed a few people walking past, only wishing they had the wallets to step inside and see the art or even simply look at the bar menu. jungkook walked up to the doors, observing the way men opened doors and spent more time watching the woman then who was actually walking inside.
all one had to do was act like they knew what they were doing, as if they belonged. so jungkook walked confidently, shoulders relaxed and a hand tucked inside the dress pants while the other swung by his side with each casual step.
the doors opened up to a grand room, good ceilings and marble floors leading to a front desk with two sets of stairs on either side leading up to the rooms and suites. a crystal chandelier hung from the center and washed sparkles over the room, to the left was an opening into one of the art rooms, the right as well. but jungkook wasn't interested in the art.
walking past the front desk, the room opened up into the bar with a wide dance floor sometimes occupied by tables for more formal nights. tonight wasn't one of those nights, chatter filled the air occasionally broken by a laugh, glasses clinked together and loud music filled the room and pounded in eardrums.
jungkook brushes past those dancing, a few sitting in the corner playing cards and smoking cigars. he wondered if they really enjoyed that or if it was something rich men thought they had to do. "what can i get for you?" the bartender asked once noticing the raven haired boy standing by the stool.
"get back to me on that." jungkook said. the man just nodded and continuing serving others around. there was a bowl of peanuts sitting there, something salty for a bitter drink that he might order in a minute.
he was suppose to come here tonight to look around, get gradually familiar with the spaces and usual faces hanging about. a little distraction was okay though, and that's exactly what he was going to get.
"you really shouldn't eat those." the boy said from a couple stools away. he was wearing a loose white shirt, the top two buttons were undone to show tan skin and jewelry hanging from around his neck. matching earrings dangled from his ears and his curly brown hair was tucked behind it. he was beautiful.
"are you speaking from past experience?" jungkook settled on asking the boy.
he laughed lightly, his voice was deeper than the ravenette had expected, "im speaking from seeing all the old men stick their nasty hands in that bowl."
jungkooks nose scrunched a little and his palm wiped the side of his pants. "noted." he said. the boy chuckled again, a soft smile was on his pink lips and he pulled out the stool next to him, patting it lightly.
he took it as an invitation, walking closer and sitting down next to the other. "i'm taehyung." he said, holding his hand out for the younger to shake. "jungkook."
"i haven't seen you here before." the brunette observed, picking up his own drink and sipping the pink liquid lightly.
"would you have remembered?" jungkook asked, a subtle smirk appearing when seeing the boys cheeks tint to match his drink.
taehyung didn't know why he was blushing already, well that was kind of a lie — the man was extremely attractive, and confident with his words. "maybe." he said quietly.
before jungkook could speak again, to try and make this boy more flustered than he already seemed to be, another voice joined their conversation unannounced. "jeon, what the hell are you doing here? this sure isn't your scene." he spoke with his usual raspy voice.
"and you think it's yours?" jungkook shot back. he looked up at the blonde and rose an eyebrow. both of them maybe shouldn't have been there.
"i can get you in trouble." donghyun said, the suit he was wearing was a stark difference from the usual blue uniform and badge. "i'm sure your parole wouldn't appreciate this right now." he added.
the ravenette narrowed his eyes and felt the burn in his chest. "you're not on the job right now so i wouldn't-"
"he's not consuming." taehyung cut in, drawing the attention to him. he smiled softly and blinked with those pretty eyes. "he was going to buy me a drink and then we were leaving."
donghyun pauses and seemed mildly shocked at the speaking up. "you know him?" he asked taehyung, watching him nod and his bangs bounce at the action.
"i do," he said, "and i don't think my dad would appreciate you coming over and hassling my guests." taehyung smiled. he seemed too sweet and pure to be tossing out subtle warnings like that, but hell, jungkook was enjoying it.
the standing guy just cleared his throat and took a step back. "of course. have a nice night you two." donghyun said before finally walking away and leaving them alone again — as alone as two people can be at a hotel bar.
"nicely done." jungkook said, he looked over at the brunette and saw him shrug.
it was silent for a second, one sat silently while the other sipped his drink. taehyung finally set the glass down and his curiosity got the best of him. "parole?" he asked.
the corner of jungkooks lips turned up into a slight grin, "does that change your opinion of me?"
"i knew you didn't fit in here." the older said simply, he pushed the glass away and jumped off the stool to stand. "everyone here is old and boring."
jungkook chuckled at the other and eyed his small smile that never seemed to leave those plump lips. he followed suit and got off from his seat and tucked his hands back into his pocket to pull out a set of car keys. "what do you say we go have some fun then?"
"god i thought you'd never ask." taehyungs grin widened and the two left the bar, walking across marble floors and towering pillars until the two large doors were opened for them.
"have a nice night mr. taehyung." one of the doormen said, earning a smile and nod in return.
jungkook wasn't sure who this boy was exactly, but he was obviously important. people knew him and apparently knew his father. that could come in handy for the future, but maybe the boy himself would be more helpful as well. taehyung didn't seem to fit in here anyways.
