When Juliana opened the front door she found herself in from of Panchito, smiling, who ran to her to embrace her, all her university friends who were anxiously waiting for her, but above all her. Valentina. She smiled at her in such an intense and sweet way that Juliana had to look away. She didn't understand why that girl provoked certain emotions inside her, as if she really knew her, but even just looking at her made her thinking about things she wasn't used to.
"Juli, I allowed myself to warn some of your friends for a little welcome home party! And I hope you don't mind if I took the liberty of calling Valentina for you too..." her mother told her with an amused sneer.
"Mom, this situation gives you more fun than I could have ever imagined! I thought you were a woman more tied to other principles, I didn't think you would have supported me so much in this thing!"
"Oh, Juli, so many things have changed, believe me, and I understood. I realized that the only thing I care about is your happiness, it doesn't matter who you wanna be with." - Lupita smiled at her, kissing her cheek and convincing her daughter to join the guests.
"Hey guys, how are you? Thank you so much for being here! I'm glad to see you again! Um, and thanks to you too, Valentina, for all you have been doing since I was hospitalized... I - I- I just wanted to say this!"
"Juls, you don't have to thank me for anything, friends are always there in times of need, and we are friends, right?"
Valentina uttered this last sentence with her voice a little broken, but managed not to give it much to see to the other guests. To everyone, except Juliana, who was now looking at her more intensely. Unable to keep her gaze, Valentina decided to leave the room for a moment, to go and get some air.
Valentina sat on the front door of the house, enjoying for a moment the silence of solitude.
She had to hold out just for as long as it took Juliana to get her memory back again. The looks, the vibrations, the emotions that both felt even looking at each other could not be hidden.
Lost in her thoughts she didn't notice a shadow near her and when she heard her voice she almost jumped from fear.
"Oh God, sorry Valentina, I didn't want to scare you! Sorry if I'm intruding in this moment that you're alone, but I saw you never came back home and thought I'd come and keep you company out here, if you don't mind. If- if you want, I can leave you alone. Yeah, in that case, all you have to do is tell me." - Juliana said to her, with a whisper.
"Juls! Oh God, you scared me! No, no! You can keep me company, I would be very happy. Sorry if I left the party without saying anything but I needed some air. I am delighted to see that you're much better now..." - Valentina smiled at her - but don't you think the guests are missing you?"
Valentina's face was trying to hide a thread of sadness, failing, and Juliana felt her heart aching to see her like this. And she had to admit to herself that her first thought was to come closer and hold her. But then she came to her senses and just smiled.
"You know, I'm really happy you could've come, I'm happy to have seen everyone, but there is a person that I thought about all this time I was in the hospital and that was you. I don't know why I know you told me we knew each other before the accident, but at the moment I can't remember you" - and when she saw Valentina turn her face to hide her sadness, she just took it with both hands to make sure she could look straight into her eyes - "but- hey, look at me Val, believe me, what I feel every time I look at you, every time you look at me, this can't be false. What I feel here, now, with you... I don't know why do make me feel this way, but I assure you that I've never felt this way in my life with any other person."
Valentina smile at the memory of the two of them having the same conversation for the first time. When both had said what they felt for each other.
The memory filled her heart and almost unconsciously brought her closer to Juliana. The two looked at each other so intensely that, for a moment, almost everything seemed to have returned to normal. It was Valentina who approached to kiss her, but right in that moment the door opened and Lupita appeared.
Seeing the two girls looking at each other so intensely, she immediately knew she interrupted something serious and looked apologetically at Valentina.
"I'm sorry girls if I interrupt you! It's that some of your friends have to go home and asked me where you were to say goodbye...now I understand why they couldn't find you! - she said, winking at her. Juliana felt herself dying of embarrassment, but decided to avoid her mother's jokes.
"It's ok Juls, go back to your friends, I have to go home too! I have an important exam tomorrow, I'm going to rest for a while. Thanks for the party and for the evening. Really. "- and she gave her a small kiss on the cheek, before leaving.
Juliana stood there, touching herself where Valentina had just kissed her, thinking about how much she was hating her mother for interrupting their first moment alone together. Valentina was going to kiss her. And she had done nothing to prevent it, indeed, she WANTED it. Strongly.
The thought alone made her shake any part of her body, so she decided to go back to reality and go greeting everyone.
She didn't know why, but this girl had completely conquered her. With her way of being, with her way of looking at her as if no one else existed in the World but her. She couldn't wait to see her again!
She didn't think of anything else but a thing:
What is happening to me? Is this what you feel when you're falling in love with someone? If this is indeed the case, it's the most beautiful thing in the World and I can't wait to see her again, this time without interruptions!" - Juliana smiled, going back into the house and dreaming of the following days and what was waiting for her from now on.
