Thea's POV
I woke up kind of late already, because I stayed up all night last night because of Kyle. Dang, I sacrificed my rest for the varsity practice today just for him! Wait... shoot! I got to get to practice!
I quickly stood up from my bed and quickened my movements to wash and dress up. After that, I went downstairs where my mom, dad and younger brother were seated for lunch. "Thea, honey, why did you wake up so late?" Mom asked me, and I ignored her question to slip away and shot back a question to her instead, "Why didn't you wake me up, mom?" I whined as I sat beside Antony, my brother.
Antony snickered, "Oh, you were snoring- like you were having the best dream of your life, so I didn't want to interrupt such beautiful dream." Antony told me and I glared at him, "Well, thank you, brother." I spat my words like I was disgusted by saying it. Antony smiled and said 'welcome'. I rolled my eyes as I stuffed food in my mouth and gulped down as if I didn't even chew. Well, I really didn't. Duh, I am running late.
After finishing my food, I carried my plate to the kitchen sink and ran to kiss my mom and dad goodbye, "Got to go now, ma, pa!" I said with Antony behind me. They waved at us goodbye and we closed the door shut. I sighed and we walked out of our subdivision. "Hey Thea? Why were you up so late last night?" Antony asked me when we were already out of the subdivision. I looked at him astonished, "You know? Wait, then you were also awake late last night!" I exclaimed at him. He nodded his head, "Nikka called, saying that she can't come to our game next Saturday." he sighed.
I smirked, "Oh, so you're disappointed?" I teased him. He glared at me, "No, I'm not. And you haven't told me the reason why you were also up late last night." he said. I gulped, "Forget about that." I told him as I tried to walk faster. But we weren't called siblings for nothing. He keeps on catching up on me. So finally, I sprinted towards the school.
Ah! He sprinted after me! Da- I was cut off in my train of thoughts when I bumped with someone. "Oh, Thea! Be careful, now." I heard the familiar voice of our school guard said. I looked up and I was right, "Of course, sorry for bothering you." I apologized and he nodded as he let us pass towards the school gym.
"So, you really don't plan on telling me anything?" Antony growled, when we reached the court. I huffed and smirked at him, "Why, dear brother! Why should I? It's a girl thing." I exclaimed at him, trying to believe that I can make this work. He put on a shocked expression and put a hand on his head, "Has the world gone mad?! Is it the end?! What has happened?!" he said, astonishment in his tone.
Yet, when I did not make a move nor snorted; he dropped down his expression and hand, "Thea, all I'm saying is; you're a boy born within a girl's body! It is not possible you go for girls' things! Thea, just face it that I'm right in this." he said as he pushed his hands in the pocket of his jersey shorts. I made a face of disgust, "No offense, but I do undergo girl things." I told him.
"Nikka?" I heard the guard's surprised voice. Antony and I turned towards the gates and saw a beautiful girl, indeed, which I know all too much. "Nikka!" I shouted her name as I waved at her enthusiastically. She looked up and her face brightened even more at the sight of- me or Antony? I don't know- us.
"Antony! Thea!" she waved back just as enthusiastically. I heard Antony sigh in relief when the guard let Nikka in. "Hey guys, can one of you just, like, come with me upstairs? I just need to retrieve my Science, Mathematics and History book." she said fidgeting. I quirked a brow at her, "Just? Those are the heaviest books known on the face of earth!" I said. She giggled all too softly.
"Well, homeworks are homeworks, and I want to pass 8th grade." she told me. Antony looked back at the court and back at Nikka, "Hurry up, slow pants. I still have practice." he shouted over his shoulder when he was a good meter away from Nikka. Nikka graced a smile on her face and ran towards Antony. "Thanks, I knew I can count on you! You're the greatest best friend any girl can have!" I heard she said as she caught up to him.
