It's Been A Long Time, Huh?

Kyle's POV

It's been a long time, I thought as I stopped tapping my pen on my desk. My friend looked at me with worried eyes, "You okay, Kyle?" he asked me. I nodded my head absent-minded. I saw him frown, "Dude, you've been mumbling to yourself all through-out the summer class." he bluntly pointed out to me. That got my attention. I turned to him, "What?" I asked, surprised.

He nodded his head, "You're definitely not okay." he sighed. I shrugged, "Yes, I am." I argued stubbornly. "No, you're not." he pressed on, and he gave me a look of suspicion, "You've been spacing out, you've been mumbling to yourself and on top of all that- you've written a name on your math notebook, see!" he pointed at the big writing on a page in my math notebook. My eyes widened, "W- what the-?" he didn't let me finish. He shoved it on my chest and scowled, "And now that it's dismissal and I'm tutoring you- you haven't even learned a single thing I've been ranting here!" he shouted. "This is a piece of-" I threw him a paper ball I had stashed under my table, on the face, to stop him of cursing.

"Don't curse. Some teachers might be walking around." I hissed at him. He mumbled something along the lines of 'yeah, as if I care' as he rolled his eyes. I sighed and said, "Okay, fine. I'm not alright. It's just that..." and we wasted our remaining time for studying with me, telling him about Thea and what happened and we ended it with me, frowning and him, grinning.

"You're so... pfft-" he couldn't continue what he planned to tell me for he bursts out laughing, which by the way, earned him a smack on the head from me.

He winced and held the sore spot on his head, "Ow.. that hurts you know." he told me, I only sneered at him. He grinned again, as if I did nothing to damage his brain cells. "Well, okay, I must say that you're totally dooped." he said, trying hard not to laugh again. I growled, looking angrier. "Hey, chill, Kyle! What got your blood boiling up so fast?" he asked me. I scowled at him.

"Well, Erickson, how would you feel if you get called as 'dooped'?" I snarled. He snorted, "Dude, I'm just telling the truth! What else do you want me to call you? A love sick puppy getting kicked in the butt by it's master?"  he, too, snarled at me. He sighed. "Sorry, I didn't mean it." he apologized and I did the same. We were soon ensued in a long comfortable silence.

But then, someone just had to break it, right? Of course. "So, bro... you haven't talked to her for a very long time, huh?" he asked. I nodded my head and sighed, "It's killing me." I finally admitted. "The real question is: Is it killing her not talking to you for so long?" he asked with a raised brow, that struck me straightly into the heart.  Does she?

"Dude, how can you make a move when you don't even know if she at least cares for you and her connection with you? Do you even know if she likes someone else?" he interrogated me, books and studying now lay on my desk forgotten. I groaned in frustration as I ran a hand through my hair, "I don't know. We were too... too close yet just so... far. You know, like a cliché story." I blurted out to him, and his face scrunched up in disgust. "I never imagined you of all people to think that your relationship with one online girl as a cliché story." he said and showed his tongue in disgust.

I chuckled darkly, "You think you're the only one who's surprised?" I asked sarcastically. He snickered, "Okay, okay. So maybe it is possible- but to an online girl? Nope. No that was too foggy!" he scoffed. I bit back a snappy remark, so we won't have another petty quarrel and just stayed silent to think about it.
