"Mother look, a dandelion! I can make a wish!" Ami exclaimed in delight as she bounded up the field to her mother, proudly presenting the flower. Her mother smiled sweetly at her daughters find and knelt down on the grass so they were level with each other, " Oh Ami, it's beautiful, let's make a wish hm? Ready, one two three!" They blew and the precious seeds glided through the air.
"What did you wish for mother?" Ami asked, her eyes glinting in the summer sunlight. Mother chuckled softly at how innocent and beautiful her 6 year-old daughter was, "I wished that you would always be safe and happy. What did you wish for dear?" Mother asked and Ami beamed and hugged her, "I wished that me, you and father would be happy and together forever!" She said happily, hugging her mother tightly.
Mother kissed Ami's forehead, making her grin and giggle in delight before burying her head in her mothers chest. "I love you mother." She said and mother, with heavy eyes that betrayed her happiness, hugged her beloved little girl and said soothingly, "I love you too Ami, never forget that."
"Ami."
Ami looked back up at her mother. She'd spoken, but that voice wasn't hers. "Mother?" Ami asked, utterly confused about what had just come out of mothers mouth. "Ami, wake up." That didn't sound like mother at all, "What do you mean mother?" Ami said, taking a step back. She felt a little uneasy, " Ami, you need to wake up, we're almost there." Then everything started to fade into blackness.
"Mother?"
....................
"Ami!"
Ami jolted awake, looking around frantically, "Mother?" She asked again before her senses came back to her. "Ami." She turned to see her father next to her, briefly locking eyes with him, well his thick glasses lenses, before he turned his head back to the road. Ami exhaled, she was in her car with her father, driving to their new home she has never seen before.
She must have fallen asleep, that's why she had that flashback. Again. "Sorry father." She said glumly and looked at herself in the side view mirror outside her car window. Her pale skin looked very bright as the sun reflected on it, making her almost squint. It really contrasted to her black hair and purple eyes, and she again wondered why she was born with that mixture. Her father was slightly tanned, with dark brown hair and thick lenses that made his eyes almost invisible, and her mother had....used to have..slightly tanned skin and really long mousy hair and brown eyes.
She'd never asked why she had different characteristics to both parents, she'd never got round to it. And she didn't want to ask now. Father sighed "Sorry I scared you Ami, but you just wouldn't wake...and you were talking in your sleep again. We're nearly there now." He said, pushing his glasses up and keeping his head fixed towards the road.
They were driving on a high road, and there were lots of fields and hills, the view looked amazing. Ami gasped dreamily, scanning the beautiful hills, all different colours. They drove downwards a little, and houses came into view. She looked at all the houses they passed, cute little cottages or old Victorian houses. The road got a little bigger, and the houses were more spaced out. Ami looked out of her window and saw a huge building that had three floors and seven windows going along the width of the building.
"Look Ami, that's your school. You'll be starting these in three days." Father said and she didn't look away until it had passed them. "Do you think I'll make good friends here father?" She asked, resting her head in her hand, still staring out the window. Father glanced at her, his glasses flashing in the light, "I'm sure you'll make great Friends here my dear. It's a nice friendly place here, the children should welcome you." He said, keeping his expression steely, and turned down another road.
After a few more minutes if silence, the radio wasn't on, the corners of fathers mouth turned upwards ever so slightly. "Ami, you'll love our new home, I promise. It's brilliant and big and spacious. And it's got nice gardens and woods to walk about. You'll never get bored I'm sure. And there's still many artefacts that are still there, no one not even the estate, wanted to move them. And there's barely any records of who they belonged to, so they're ours, but there isn't much we can really do with them. Well, maybe you'll find some use in the old garments that are there." Father said, and Ami looked at him. He sounded a little excited, and she was happy to hear it. He just keeps a straight face and voice most if the time, with his head in a book or hunched up in his lab.
She smiled, then turned back to the window, and as she processed his words, questions began to form in her mind. Her eyes clouded with thought as she started to get a little restless about her new home. Se was more curious now than before, and she pondered on what her father had meant.
