So close, yet so far

TONI'S POV

I desperately ran through the halls of the Sisters of Quiet Mercy, searching every room, until I found her. She was on the floor of this cold, dark room. And she was bleeding.

"VERONICA!" I cried out.

Veronica came running in.

"Toni, there are nuns on our tail. We have to go."

I held Cheryl.

"Well we can't move her!"

Veronica closed the heavy door and locked it.

"We have to find a way out of here."

I looked around, but only for a sec. When I spotted the window.

"That frame will pop out easily." I told Veronica.

She ran over to the window and kicked out the frame.

"How far?" I asked.

"Not that far," she said, "maybe 15 feet."

"I don't know..."

"Well you can't be too picky. It's either 15 feet or 15 nuns."

"Fine"

Veronica jumped out first.

"Throw her down." She called up.

"Are you insane?!?"

"I've got her. Trust me."

I gently placed Cheryl down in veronica arms. Just as I did, the nuns burst through the door.

"Toni! Jump!" Veronica screamed.

I jumped, completely fucking up my ankle in the process.

"OW! SHIT!" I yelled.

"Toni we've got to go!"
Veronica ran as fast as she could with Cheryl in her arms, I limped behind as best I could. We escaped, barely, and sped to the hospital.

I sat in the waiting room. Veronica left to go get food, and to call our friends. A nurse came up to me.

"Any news?" I asked.

"I'm not here for an update."

"Then what do you need?"

"I'm here to treat your ankle."

"No, I don't need it. I'm fine."

"No you aren't. It's bruised pretty bad. And swollen, too."

"Gee, thanks." I joked.

"Can I just have a look?"

I hesitated. "I guess."

She treated my ankle as best as she could.

"Nothing much I can do, now." She informed me, "you just have to wait it out. And, do yourself a favor, stay off of it for a little while."

"Thanks." I said, as a doctor came up to me.

"Cheryl Blossom's family?"

"Yeah, that's me."

"She'll be fine. She should be healed enough to go home in about a week."

"Oh my god, thank you so much." I thanked.

"Should be able to visit her soon."

"Okay, thank you."
