Greenville: Season Three

Chapter 11

Friday morning, Seth was having coffee downstairs when Damien approached him.

"Leave us." Damien said.

Everyone left the room as Damien sat down with Seth.

"Good morning, Sir." Seth greeted him.

Damien looked over at Seth and smiled.

"You make my daughter very happy." Damien told him.

Seth examined Damien's demeanor and couldn't help but notice a change in his attitude.

"I wanted to give you this before but with all that happened at dinner the other night I didn't really have an opportunity." Damien said.

"Give me what?" Seth asked curiously as he took a sip of his coffee.

Damien pulled out a ring and sat in on the table. Seth froze for a moment and stared at the ring.

"This is the ring your father gave your mother." Damien told him.

"You want me to propose?" Seth asked in surprise.

"I certainly wouldn't mind it. But no, I am not telling you to do anything, son. I am giving you my blessing." Damien told him.

"To marry your daughter?" Seth asked as looked up at him.

"Yes. I mean unless you don't want to-." Damien began to say.

"I do. I do want to marry your daughter." Seth blurted out.

Damien looked over at Seth and let out a smile.

"If I could marry her tomorrow, I would.. but I'm not sure she's ready. I mean after everything that happened with Finn.. and we haven't even been together that long.. I can just hear all of her reasons for turning me down in my head." Seth laughed.

"Maybe I underestimated how well you know my daughter.." Damien said as he smiled to himself.

"Why? Do you know something?" Seth asked him.

"Take the ring, Seth. Whatever you decide to do with it is your choice. But know that I would be honored to have you as a son." Damien told him.

Seth looked over at Damien as his eyes filled with tears.

"And I would be honored to be your son." Seth said as he leaned over and shared a hug with him.

Joe walked into the room and saw Damien and Seth hugging.

"Are you guys crying?" Joe asked.

"No." Seth said as he wiped the tears from his eyes.

Damien laughed and looked up at Joe.

"Is Zelina still upstairs?" Damien asked him.

"Yes, Sir. Ricochet is with her now." Joe said.

Damien nodded and took a sip of his coffee. Joe looked over at the ring on the table and widened his eyes.

"Is that an engagement ring?" Joe asked.

Seth quickly grabbed the ring off the table and put it in his pocket.

"Are you gonna propose?" Joe asked.

Seth looked up at Joe and took a deep breath.

"I don't think she's ready." Seth said.

Joe looked down at Damien and saw the smile on his face.

"I can try to talk to her if you want." Joe said.

"Really?" Seth asked.

"Well she tells her friend Kenny more than she tells me but I can try to get something out of her." Joe said.
