CHAPTER ONE
It was the 31st of August 2001, your mom had paid me a visit that day, you were only 7 months old then, we talked a lot mostly about our life and how short it can be, halima had said she feels her life is coming to an end, 'shhhh why are you saying this donallah'? I had asked her, she smiled in return and said 'lantai you won't understand' just then she stood up and wrapped you behind her back, 'I will be leaving now' she said as she picks up her hand bag, I was wondering why she had decided to leave so early I kept quite and I said 'toh', (okay) Allah ya tsare halima (safe trip halima) she smiled and waved me bye, at that moment I felt like stopping her but I couldn't, I never thought that would be the last time I saw her, Aunty lantai sighed as she continues telling me the stories about my mom, as she Continues braiding my hair, she continued with the story on the 2nd of September I decided to go and see your mother (halima) on entering your house, I bumped into your father who was in a hurry, and looking scared, ha'aahhh amadu what is the matter? I had asked him after noticing his condition, he was stammering and finally managed to say, lantai it's halima she is seriously sick, I need to go and get some herbs for her, please go and stay with her until am back , I did not get the opportunity to ask what was wrong, I ran to see my sister she was badly coughing, I became scared as death was the first thing which crossed my mind, I couldn't think of anything else, halima what's wrong, please tell me, your mother wanted to talk but she coughs everytime she tries to talk, I couldn't help but cry, I stood up to step out for a while until my tears were completely flown out, but she held my hand, and said lantai my daughter please take care of her, donallah
At that very moment she passed away, I did not even know when the tears in my eye dried out, I started shivering, you began to cry a lot, I stood still looking at halima's dead body, 'could this be real I said to my self' No' it can't be innalillahi wa inna ilai hirrajiun I kept on reciting until your father came rushing with a bowl of soaked leaves he dropped it and a drop of tear rolled down his chick, he went down on his knees 'innalillahi wa inna ilai hirrajiun' he recited heavily.Hope this short teaser was very interesting please recommend to your friends and don't forget to add my book to your reading list, Thank you
