Never does it seemed like I was getting married, there was no reception, no friends gathering at all.
Grandmother had later wanted the occasion to be a silent one......In the zaure, only the groom his family members ,mai anguwa(village head) ,and some of our relatives were there for the wedding fatiha.
I sat down in inna's bedroom,I could have wished to stay longer if I could, the sweet cent of her bedroom was what kept on going in and out of my nostrils.
Wearing a skirt and blouse made out of a special Ankara kawu had bought from the city the previous week, with ornaments which made me so uncomfortable as they were another stress laid on me.
I adjusted my gele , and my bangles once again made sounds!!"You will have to try your best to adjust to the new life system you will find yourself in kulu"
Inna's voice said from behind,
I turned to face her and there she was, standing with grandma and fati.
Marriage is a beautiful and sad journey, you will enjoy the good and the worst as well, its up to you to handle situations in the right way, and I believe you will be able to.I hugged her, before I could even realise I did that.
She stepped back and wiped a drop of tear from my eye.
Facing the door with her left hand holding the drap of old and thorn curtain's, she added:
"I know who you are, whatever comes your way,I believe you are in the right position to handle it". So she told me and went out of the room.
One could easily tell she wanted to cry as well.Grandmother came and shrugged her hands around my shoulder.
" let's go" she softly said
I stood up like a lifeless body who was supported to walk by grandmother and fati.
Inna took fati's position when we came out of the room,
Bumping into kawu who was coming Into the compound!! He looked at me and smiled as he said:"Be who we have trained you kulu"
"May Allah guide you through your new journey"I didn't know when and how I started crying even more, for the first time I am missing the presences of my mother who I barely even know.
I just would have loved it if she was the one holding me right now,so I can turn and cry on her shoulders.
Nevertheless, upon reaching the outside the house I turned and hugged Inna, who in turn gave me a never forgetting hug.
She tapped my head and asked me to get into the car, which was a black smoking one.
A man whose hands looked fair and a bit hairy, opened the door for me and said :
"Bismillah"
I went in sat down, and was welcomed by the cool relaxing breeze in the car.
The door was shut then, and someone came in from the other side.
I didn't bother to look and see who it was, because at that moment I wasn't myself ,tears keeps rolling down my face and I gently knelt my head on the car window,as we drove off!!!
