Kira's POV

I wake up to loud ringing in my ears. I groan as I reach over to pick up my phone.

"Hello?" Nobody answers.

"Hellooo?" I ask again.

I hear shuffling on the other line. I move the phone away from my ear and look at the screen. Private caller. Shit I should've looked at the screen before answering. I never like answering private calls.

"I can hear you, so speak or I'm hanging up." It's 9am on a Sunday; this call better be important.

The line stays silent for a few more seconds and when I'm about to hang up I hear someone clear their throat.

"It's good to know your attitude hasn't changed." The voice says.

"Excuse me?"

"Oh, don't tell me you've forgotten my voice already. Kira, dear it hasn't been that long." My body instantly stiffens when I realize who it is. Liam. It's Liam. How the hell did he get my number?

"How'd you get my number Liam?" This cannot be happening right now.

"You're not happy to hear from me sweetheart? Ouch."

"Answer my question."

"It doesn't matter. I'm back now and I want to see you." He says all too proudly.

There's no way in hell that I'm going to see him again. It's a good thing he doesn't know where I live now.

"Liam we broke up. I'm not your dear or your sweetheart. Don't call me again. I mean it." I try to ignore the sudden dizziness that has overcome me. If I wasn't already lying down, I would have fell over.

"I love it when you're feisty. You should already know that Kira. I'll see you soon love." And with that Liam hangs up.

It doesn't take long for panic to run through me. My heart is racing and I'm having a shortage of breath. My chest starts to feel tight. I push myself out of bed and rush into the kitchen to get some water.

This cannot be happening. Please tell me this is a dream. I lean on the counter, squeezing my eyes tight, hoping that when I reopen them this would just be a nightmare. But when I open my eyes, I'm still standing here in my kitchen, dizziness taking over me. My legs start to shake and I know I won't make it back to my phone to call for help. Within seconds everything goes black.

***

This is it. Today's the day. I've been going over how wrong this can turn out in my head. I never wanted it to come to this. I never wanted my senior year to be such a disaster. I never wanted it to get to the point where someone could get badly hurt, physically.

It's graduation day. Everyone is filled with nerves and hoping they don't trip on stage while getting their diploma, but that's the least of my concerns. I mean tripping in front of hundreds of people would suck but I'm about to do something huge.

"You can do this." My dad tells me and pulls me into a warm embrace.

Throughout this whole situation, I've come to learn one thing and that is how patient my father is. I'm nothing but thankful for his support, unlike my mother. Ever since this exploded into what it is today, she's been scolding me nonstop. She never let a day pass without telling me how foolish I was, like I didn't already know.

"Remember what we spoke about with Jeff." My dad warns as he parks in front of the park. "We'll be watching close by in case things go wrong."
