The sun is blazing and here I sit in skinny jeans and a black t-shirt, on the hot sand. If I had known I'd be at the beach on one of the hottest days of the year, I would have at least worn shorts. But that's my best friend Amber for you. She's spontaneous and I shouldn't be surprised that our lunch date turned into an afternoon at the beach.

"Kira...get up and play some volleyball with us." Amber whined as she jogged over to where I was sitting. Of course she looked perfect in her 'beach' get up. Adorable light blue shorts that accentuated her long pale legs and the cutest polka dotted tank top. She always reminded me of Twilight because I swear she could pass for one of those vampires.

"No thank you. It's really hot and I think I'm going to leave since you seem to be having a ball." I snapped.

"Oh jeezs! I thought you said you didn't mind stopping by for a little." She was now pouting with her hands on her popped hip.

I looked past her to the group of guys with their shirts off, who were now calling Amber back over to them. The funny thing is, I never thought the guys I went to high school with would turn out that attractive.

My mouth may have been watering for a split second but I stopped myself just as my gaze locked with, Louis, I think his name was. He changed a lot in the past year. Longer hair and tattoos.

"Amber! C'mon! Leave her alone, she doesn't belong here anyway." Louis shouts and of course the other three boys laugh. The fact that I feel this way and I'm not even in high school anymore sucks ass.

I ignore his comment and turn my attention back to Amber. "Exactly. But you don't seem to know the definition of "a little". We've been here for an hour and I'm twice as hungry now. But like your guy friend over there, ever so kindly pointed out, I don't belong here. So I think I'll leave now. I'll talk to you later."

"How am I supposed to get home if you leave?" She whines. Her comment only makes me stand up and walk away faster. I hear her try to call me back, as I walk up the beach towards the parking lot, but I ignore her.

When I reach my car, I realize that I don't have my keys and mentally slap myself for not remembering. Of course Amber has my keys and of course there's someone calling me from behind.

I turn around to see one of the boys jogging up to me with my keys in his hand. I try not to stare to hard at his tattoo covered arm and torso.

"Amber thought you might need these." He says as he reaches me, handing me the keys.

I turn around once the keys are in my hand and unlock my car.

"Don't I get a thank you?" he's got to be kidding me right now...me say thank you to him? He must be dreaming. I ignore him and open the car door.

"Hello?" he insists.

He is really pushing it but I can't hold my tongue any longer. "Thank you!?" I feel my anger building. "You want me to say thank you? Thank you for laughing at me back there? Thank you for making me feel like high school never ended? Well sorry to break it to you but no, I will not thank you." I snap.

I see his expression change to that of sympathy but before he could speak, I stop him. "I don't need your fake apology and I don't need you to feel sorry for me so don't say anything." I sigh.

"Okay? First of all, I wasn't laughing at you back there." He takes a step towards me. What? "Second, thank you for biting my head off just now." He takes another step closer. "And third, whether you want my sympathy or not, you're going to get it. I am not the same guy I was in high school...I cannot say the same for the guys down there. But I am truly sorry if I hurt you in any way."

By the time he finishes what he's saying, he is standing right in front of me. I stand there dumbfounded, staring up at him, trying to figure out what I could possibly say now.

This is a very awkward situation for me and I have no idea what I should do. I take this time to examine his features. He's very tall because he towers over me. He has the greenest eyes that just pull you in. And his hair, is thick and wavy and...

"Harry?" A voice breaks my thoughts. I turn to see a very attractive girl with lavender hair standing a few feet away.

"See you around." He leans down and kisses my cheek and with one swift move, he's walking away with the leggy girl and winking at me.
