Nightmares | Colby |

I woke up to Colby moving around a lot. I thought maybe he just couldn't get to sleep, but when I turned around he had his arms shielding his head and a frightened look on his face.

I began shaking him in attempt to wake him up.

"Colby?" I whispered.

He began whimpering and flinging his arms around.

"No, no, no. Don't hurt me please," he cried.

This is when I began to freak out.

"Colby! Wake up!" I called out shaking him more.

Suddenly he shot up, sweat dripping down his forehead as he quickly look around at his surrounding. His eyes locked onto me and he instantly pulled me into a hug, taking me by surprise. He let out - what sounded to be - a sigh of relief.

I wanted to say something but I wasn't quite sure of what to say. Asking if he was okay wasn't going to help much as I already knew he wasn't.

"Colby?"

"Yeah?" He replied quietly.

"What happened? You looked like you were freaking out," I asked.

"It was just a nightmare, nothing to worry about,"

"What do you mean nothing to worry about, you were calling out saying 'no don't hurt me,' You scared me," I replied.

"Well my nightmare- It had-,"

"Hey, take your time explaining it. I just want to know what scared you so bad," I reassured him.

He took a deep breath in and then out and started explaining.

"So basically- you were in it actually- it started off with us exploring an abandoned place together, just you and me. I promised you that you would be safe and protected at all costs, but I broke it, I broke that promise. Even though it was just some stupid dream I still don't forgive myself for it."

He paused taking another breath before he continued again. "Its okay, take your time

"When we got there it was all fine, kind of peaceful actually, and so basically we looked around for a bit, goofing off. Then we bumped into some people. They had weapons and everything with them. I tried to shield you from them telling them we would leave and we weren't there to cause trouble. But then one of them snuck up from behind us and grabbed you. I don't want to get to into detail, but then they basically tried to kill you, but they didn't, they left you on the edge of death. I tried to save you, but then they got me and they were going to kill me but you woke me up." He finished explaining. I could see the tears in his eyes and I knew he was hurting and i knew that the only thing I could do was just be there. I linked my arms behind his neck and bought him back into a hug.

I began to slowly play with his hair to help calm him down.

"Its okay, everything okays. I'm fine and you're fine." I whispered rubbing his back.

For the rest of the night I stayed awake until Colby fell asleep, hopefully having no more nightmares, at least for tonight.
