We ended up coming to this little setting up or whatever they were having for our dad and although I was upset that my momma decided not to come because she didn't feel comfortable enough, she wanted us to come
"I really don't wanna be here right now" I muttered as I walked up the sidewalk holding Nasir while Kentrell carried Kemoni. Elena and Dana has already arrived but it took us longer because we obviously had more people to get dressed
"You here for yo daddy. Ight?"
"Fine but we ain't staying long" I told him while walking up to the house. A woman that was standing outside talking looked over at us and squinted her eyes some, trying to figure out who we were. Once she saw me she wore a surprised look and made her way to meet us
"Noel! Is that you?!" She smiled. Once she got close I recognized her as my aunt Rachel. She hugged me and stepped back some looking at Kentrell and the kids "And let me guess this is your lil boo? You are a cute young man. And these babies are so cuteeeee! Your daddy never told us you had kids"
"He barely knew himself" I responded with a shrug. Rachel tried to touch Nasir but he frowned and leaned away from her
"He must not be a people person"
"Not one bit"
"I can tell" Rachel laughed then looked at Kemoni who wore a mug as well while looking Rachel dead in the face "Hey pretty girl. You gone come to auntie Rachel?"
"No" Kemoni rudely responded and hugged Kentrell's neck tight making him laugh
"Noel you got some mean babies" Rachel tried to joke but I knew she was serious
"I know. Bother their daddy next and you'll see where they get it from" I bluntly responded before walking off into the house and Kentrell followed behind.
As soon as we entered the house the scent of food hit my nose while many voices filled my ears. People started coming up to us and greeted us, most of them I didn't even remember but they swear they remember me since I was a baby. Once I finally got through hella people I looked around and spotted Elena talking to some girl in the kitchen while eating
"There go one of my sisters"
Before I could get to her I was approached by another woman.
"Noel girl you grew UPPP!"
I just looked at the woman confused as to who she was and she laughed
"You don't remember me? You big cousin Meka. I used to be at y'all house with Dana all the time"
"Oh, I remember now" I replied, actually remembering her
"How you been? How old are you now?"
"22"
"Forreal? I remember when you was 2 or 4 tryina keep up with me and Dana. Now you gotta man" she said while looking at Kentrell " Hey how you doing? I'm her cousin?"
Kentrell just nodded and Kemoni looked meka up and down, sizing her up like she was ready to fight
"And then you got babies too? Damn I feel old"
"Yup, I got 2. This is Nasir and the daddy's girl right there is Kemoni"
"Nasir and Kemoni.. hey handsome" meka tried to touch Nasir but he kind of slapped her hand away before burying his face into my shirt
"You ain't gone talk to me?" She kept trying to talk to him and he kept avoiding her. I guess Kemoni got tired of it
"no" she fussed and both Kentrell and I laughed
