Backstory: He once was a wild, uncivilized centaur before the wise Chiron mentored him in the ways of philosophy, medicine, and societal norms. In the beginning of the movie, he and Chiron are researching Mt. Aetna where unbeknownst to him, the ancient monster Typhon lies imprisoned before being accidentally released.
