[UNEDITED]
Josh bit his lip as he studied Orchid University for the very last time. Even though days had went by so fast, Josh realized how he would miss this place. The classrooms, the fountain, the dorms, even the little restaurants. Josh promised himself that someday he'd come back for SGP Palace. And before he knew it, he could probably even sneak in back to The Oliver Deli.
"You ready to go?" A steady voice pulled Josh out of his trance. He turned around and found Aaron.
"I'm not sure." Josh said quietly.
"Well, we've gotta go nonetheless," Aaron mumbled. He took ahold of Josh's hand and intertwined their fingers.
"Okay. I'm ready." Josh said. Aaron nodded and lead the other boy to the car- a grey minivan that was handed down from one of Aaron's brothers. Inside were their boxes, including both of Sadie and Louis', who were carpooling.
Josh climbed into the driver's seat as Aaron pulled his seat belt over his chest, riding shotgun. Josh looked at the rear view mirror and saw Louis holding Sadie's hand as she gazed out the window.
"Are you two ready?" Josh asked them.
"Ready as I'll ever be." Louis grinned. He had talked about how dumb Orchid was, and how people would constantly give him glares for the piercings and tattoos he had. Louis had drone about the stupidity of college, and he was excited to leave.
Sadie nodded but said nothing. She only squeezed Louis' hand and kept watch of the world behind the glass.
"Okay." Josh mumbled. He stuck the key into the ignition and the car roared to life. He still couldn't believe he was being kicked out, and he still hadn't called his mom that he would be coming home.
The whole ride was silent. Occasionally there would be small talk, but everyone kept thoughts to themselves. Sadie would update if the other's- Liam, Faber, Clara, Niall, and Gabby- were stopping at a gas station or whatever was going on in the other car.
Josh was happy that all of his friends would give up their school time to drop out, all because that Josh and Aaron had to leave. He felt terrible for letting them get away with this, but he never pressured them into doing so. This was their being.
"What are you thinking?" Aaron asked silently. Louis and Sadie were sleeping at this point; her head on his chest, their breaths quiet and even.
"Nothing," Josh shook his head. "I'm just.."
"Dazed?"
"I guess."
Aaron sat back. He paused. "How am I going to tell my mom I'm gay?"
Josh shrugged. "I don't know."
"What?" Aaron sat forward. "your mom doesn't even know you're gay?"
"No." Josh blushed.
"How long have you been gay?"
"About eleven years."
"Insane." Aaron breathed.
"Yeah, well, whatever. I've been thinking about telling her when I get back home, anyways."
This wasn't true. Josh was actually terrified of telling his mother about his sexuality. He didn't know if she was like everyone else, or if she was just like her friends. She was his mother, after all. Aren't mothers supposed to love you no matter what? Apart from that, Josh hadn't thought deeply about telling her.
"Okay," Aaron smiled. "I can't wait to meet your mother."
"Who said you were gonna meet my mom?" Josh tapped the steering wheel.
