When I was 11 I went to Senior School for the first time. Because I had switched schools and not many people from my old school chose to go to the same school as me, it was going to be a clean slate. I was going to try and find some friends on the introduction day. I already knew a few people from trial classes I had done at the school and one of them lived very close to me. He and I had chosen to go to school together and we tagged along troughout the day.

"Hey Stan!"

"Oh hi Louis! Excited for the first day?"

"It's school, but I'm kinda excited to see who's gonna be in my class."

"Yeah me too."

We weren't really friends yet, but I thought he was nice.

"So what school did you transfer from?"

"I used to be in Willow, what about you?"

"Oh one of my team mates used to be in Willow, I'm from Poole."

"Cool."

I didn't really know what to talk about beside the small talk while walking to school. It was kind of awkward but I knew we both didn't really mind.

"Hey, shouldn't you have your uniform on?"

"Dangit I forgot, I hope the teachers won't mind, still have to get used to the whole wearing uniforms thing."

"You didn't have uniforms at Willow?"

"We did but you weren't required to wear them, if you wanted to you could but pretty much nobody wore them."

"Ah cool I wish we had that."

And the awkward silence started again. When we turned around the corner we saw the building though. It wasn't anything special, but I liked it. To me it almost looked like a home, not that I was particularly excited to make school feel like home but still it made it look a little better.

"Do you know what classroom we need to go to?" I asked the black haired boy.

"No but I think there'll be people there to guide us."

"Okay good, wouldn't want to get lost on my first day, I already forgot my uniform."

"I think you're worrying too much mate."

It didn't mean much but when he said mate I knew he was going to be a good friend.

"Yeah, probably, but still I don't want to be that guy who makes the worst impression ever you know?"

"Me neither, but stop stressing out so much or you will be that guy."

We were now on the front yard of the school, and after a few more steps without speaking to eachother we finally entered the building.

Like Stan said there were people to guide us to the classroom we were supposed to be at. The whole school was empty, aside from the first years who had their introduction today. All the other students had the day off.

When we walked into the classroom there were already some kids there. Stan and I sat down next to each other as I looked around the room to check the kids out I would spend the next year with.

No one really struck my eye, but I did see one boy from the trial classes and waved at him. He waved back lazily and I started laughing because it looked funny.

"Stan?"

"What's up?"

"I know one of those guys over there, maybe we should join them and have a little chat?"

"Sure."

We walked over to them and grabbed a chair.

"Hey Louis!"

"Hey Niall, how are you?"

"I'm doing great, and you?"

"Doing good, standard. So who is your friend?"

"I think I can speak for myself, I'm Josh."

As Josh was introducing himself, Niall was mimicking his hand movements. Immediately I knew these 2 were going to be the funny ones this year. Some new kids walked in, they seemed to be from the same school. Don't know why I noticed they just seemed to know eachother well already. There was no one particularly cute in my class, some just weren't cute at all, some looked a little better.

As the day moved along we did some games to get to know eachother better. Nothing that was really interesting. What was kind of awkward though was that I wanted to read the name tag of a 5th years that was helping with the introduction day. She was standing next to me on the left, and her name tag was on the left. In the end I realized it looked like I was staring at her boobs, but then she saw and turned around so I could read it. I don't remember if I started blushing but the awkwardness was there.

Our teacher was horrible, she made this boy cry on the first day because he opened his mouth while she was speaking. She just yelled at him and I guess he felt attacked. It wasn't anyone I knew but it was kind of humiliating for him, and he started crying all of a sudden, which only made it worse.

As Stan and I walked home we talked about the people in our class, and who we would like to get to know more. We both thought Niall and Josh were nice, and they had some more friends with them who also seemed nice, but we only really talked to Niall and Josh.

But at the end of the day, I thought I had made some good new friends.
