As the arrogant and unfair teacher talked about the procedures and roles of the play, I had my sketchbook out with a pencil doodling over the pages that were blank. I put my chin on the notebook page and wrote the words on a blank space:
First day of school. Didn't go well thanks to my stupid attitude not doing what I told it to do. Jk I'm just as rude as ever lmao
Anyways I'd love to commit skyscraper jump because I just got the worst role nobody wanted: Juliet. I regret living after all, lololol
Help me T_TI played with my pencil partially listening to my teacher talking about what would be in the play. Yeah, yeah, Romeo and Juliet love each other and kiss and stuff. But I hope it won't be an actual kiss.
Will it?
"Hey Jiwoo."
I turned my head to see Hyeri looking at me.
"Hm?"
She tucked her hair behind her ear. "I kinda feel bad that you had only one choice and it was the choice that everybody avoided."
I smiled kindly. "No, it's fine, I just hope the role's not as bad as we all think it is." I fiddled with my fingers, unsure of what I just said. "I actually feel bad for him, though," I continued, looking at Seokjin. He had his head on his arms that were crossed on his desk. Why was I so cold to him... I feel so bad... you did it again, Jiwoo.
Hyeri looked over to see Seokjin, then quickly looked back. "Dang, you have a pretty handsome boy all to yourself," she said, a smirk forming on her lips. I smiled sheepishly, averting my eyes to look at my paper. Picking up my pen, I wrote words under the previous ones I wrote a few minutes ago:
Maybe it's not as bad as I thought :)
"...and that's for today," the teacher announced as the bell rang for snack. Everybody started packing up and leaving the classroom. I looked over to Hyeri while packing up my stuff. "Hey, is it okay if I call you Hyeri?" I asked, stuffing my notebook in my backpack.
She nodded, a smile on her face. "Of course! And I can call you Jiwoo too, right?"
"Mhm. Also, do you wanna meet my other friends? They'll be happy to meet a newcomer." I picked up my backpack and waited for her to finish packing up.
"I'll be glad to."
I looked around the classroom and realized it was only us two- until I looked at my teacher's desk and I saw Seokjin talking to the teacher. And it seemed like a pretty serious conversation.
Uh oh.
"I'm finished, Jiwoo."
I looked back at Hyeri and nodded and we started walking outside of the classroom, a pain of guilt stabbing through my chest.
Seokjin's POV
"Um... Mrs. Han," I started as people were leaving the classroom. I grabbed my backpack and walked up to her.
"Yes, Seokjin?" she asked, looking up from her papers on her desk.
"Is it okay if I... switch roles...?"
She shook her head politely. "Sorry, karma just hit you really badly, I guess. Do you not like your role?"
I spread out his arms wide. "Nobody likes it."
"Is it the Romeo role?" she smiled, looking back down at her papers and organizing them. "Yeah, at first, nobody likes it, but later on, they're glad they chose that role."
Really.
"Well... please elaborate."
Mrs. Han looked at me for a moment, then towards Jiwoo, who was staring at us, but then quickly looked away and followed her friend. "She's the one who got the Juliet role, right? I just know that you two will be the best choices in the play."
I narrowed my eyes and shoved my hands in my pockets. "...oookay. Thanks, Mrs Han."
"Mhm!"
As I walked out of the classroom, one thought shot in my head.
What the heck.
