This is the first writing challenge I wrote on the app. I hope you like it!

Promt:
Lounging bored at your best friends party since you didn't know anyone else, the friend comes over with a group of unfamiliar people. The friend dares you, but more discretely, begs you to drink a glass of unknown pink liquid. He starts laughing nervously at you hesitation and turns to the group of strangers. "Guys, seriously. I told you I didn't invite any humans, ok?"

I did not follow the prompt completely.

Some time ago I traveled back to my home town to meet up with some of my old friends.

I moved out of Los Angeles a year ago to start fresh in Santa Monica. Both me and my mother needed a change of scenery after my dad suddenly went missing. After three months of searching an no clue to where he could be the authorities desided to shut the case, claiming he was most likely dead. That's when we decided to leave.

I've made great new friends in Santa Monica, but I never forgot my old friends back in LA. I missed them a lot, so in order to catch up with some of them I desided to come back and celebrate Josh's eighteenth birthday with him. Josh was my best friend since we were really young. I can safely say that the hardest thing about the move was not having him around.

The party was in a huge venue. It was one of the fancy places where you've got glass chandeliers hanging from the ceiling that are so big you wonder how they don't just crash down to the floor. The whole place was decorated top to bottom with fancy things. It was shining.  The only thing missing was an ice sculpture.

There were many types of drinks and alcohol, from wine and champagne to just plain old vodka. Oh, and don't get me started on the buffet. It's so good I must've gained five pounds just that night!

The music was mediocre at best, but everyone was way to drunk to care about that. I was certain that even if the organisers were to turn the music off completely no one would notice.

At some point into the night I began feeling quite sluggish. Too many drinks I suppose. I went to the bathrooms to freshen up and hoped it would drive it away. That's when I saw Josh.

He was near the bathrooms with a group of mutual friends of ours. We've been hanging out together as a gang all throughout high school. They looked like they were having an argument but I couldn't differentiate anything they were saying like it was in a different language. I blamed it on the alcohol.

I walked up to them and asked what was going on. They all stared at me for a second and then everyone averted their eyes to Josh who looked uncomfortable. With a forsed grin he jogged up to me and slung his arm around my shoulder.

"Danny! How've you been mate?" He asked nervously. I gave him a concerned glance and asked him if he was okay. He just laughed it off and walked back to the other guys, retrieving a glass of pink liquid. I frowned at it, unable to remember seeing any pink drinks at the buffet table.

"Hey Daniel?" Josh asked, shoving the champagne glass into my hands. "How about you do your best friend a favour and drink this, ay?" He told me. The way he spoke was wierd. Not what I remembered Josh spoke like. He didn't look drunk either which concerned me.
