"Ophelia""You know me?" I ask, the gun still pointed at his head
"Who wouldn't?" he says "Ophelia the infamous assassin, you should be working with us, not against us"
"With you?" I laugh, but it's a cold one "you're delusional, I don't murder the wealthy for the fun of it"
"Nor do we" he replies
"We?" I ask
"Classified information, Ophelia" he laughs weakly
"Classified, huh?" I reply to his lifeless body on the ground "I understand"
I need answers but I know he's unable to give me them. I walk down the empty ballroom, glass crunching underneath my heels, and see Charles waiting.
"Why are you still here?" I ask
"It's dangerous""You're here to protect me though" he says sweetly "aren't you?" and laughs
"You're not repelled by watching me kill someone" I reply half smiling "wow, that's a first"
His face turns serious suddenly
"I know you didn't kill him for fun" he says "it was necessary""Thanks" I mutter "better to be safe than sorry"
"Speaking of sorry" he says slowly and grins "I'm sorry I called you a babysitter, you can be much more than that if you'd like?"
I laugh "are you seriously flirting with me"
"What would you say if I said...yes?" he replies with a boyish smile
"I'd send someone to look at your head" I laugh "come on, let's go"
James is waiting for us outside, everyone else has left so we're the last to leave
"How was the dance?, Miss Ophelia" he asks
"Eventful" I reply "and for the last time, James, it's O-"
"-Ophelia" he says laughing "I know, I know"
I smile back, watching as the soft splashing water droplets hit the car windows as we drive onwards into the night.
