"Are you feeling fine?" Naruto was cooking breakfast, Kurama and Matsu had already left to check out the field. Naruto set Shikamaru's plate down, and Shikamaru sighed.

"I'm fine, can't you see my chakra?" Naruto said and Shikamaru only ate his rolled eggs.

"I just don't want to do anything but sleep and stay in bed." Naruto smiled and walked over to Shikamaru, running a hand through his hair that he kept mostly down. Shikamaru only felt love flow through him.

Naruto was so sweet and loving when he wanted to be, other times he was loud and temperamental, and even more a drunken flirt more than anything. He however loved Naruto for everything he had to offer.

"Come, we can lay down for a little, we don't have to get ready for another two hours." Naruto said and Shikamaru shook his head.

"I want to take you somewhere." Naruto tilted his head but nodded, they duo heading upstairs to change into a simple Shinobi outfit, Naruto wearing the intricate Uzumaki and Kamikaze sign on his back, Shikamaru doing the same with Ito-Nara.

When they dressed, they walked out the door hand and hand, Naruto looking around as the village was swarming with Genin from other villages and their village. Naruto didn't feel any strange chakra, no Inari and no Orochimaru. They walked to the Nara clan, it being nothing but a memorial, a grave sight if you will.

Naruto followed Shikamaru, Shikamaru walked all the way to the back, and Naruto watched Shikamaru fall to his knees and fell into a prayer. He then opened his eyes and sighed.

"I'm sorry father, mother I haven't stopped by in awhile." Shikamaru started and Naruto kneeled next to him, taking his hand.

"Hello Shika-San, Yoshino-Chan I'm Naruto nice to meet you." Naruto said and Shikamaru smiled.

"I love him, he's carrying your grandchildren if only you could see them." Shikamaru said and Naruto leaned into Shikamaru.

"Your stubborn son was ready for kids, and I'd be lying to say that I'm not ready to spend my life with him." Shikamaru gave Naruto's hand a squeeze and Naruto hummed.

"I really wish our children could have their real grandparents, I love you mother, father." Shikamaru said and Naruto just leaned into Shikamaru, sighing.

"Do you come here a lot?" Shikamaru nodded.

"I use to come all the time, then I met you and I haven't been since. I usually came every morning and night." Naruto nodded, looking up at Shikamaru, he looked to be at peace, like he wasn't battling any demons anymore, despite them having one more obstacle to complete.

"Your mothers probably chewing your ear off in heaven." Naruto said and Shikamaru laughed.

"Yeah, my dad is probably standing behind her with a look of love while she rambles that I should've introduced you when we got serious." Naruto laughed a little before looking at the sun.

It was time for their mission.

"I know, come." Shikamaru said and Naruto stood up before giving Shikamaru's parents grave a kind smile.

"He's in good hands, I really love your son. Thank you for him." Naruto said and Shikamaru smiled and they left in a cloud of smoke.

They appeared at the academy with five minutes to spare, walking to the floor that everybody else was at, walking in they looked around, Shikamaru only scoffed and walked towards a corner of the room, Naruto giving a smile before walking back to Shikamaru humming.

"Didn't they graduate with us?" Sakura asked the other rookies and they all nodded.

"They barely came to school, well Naruto did but he didn't talk to us." Hinata said and Sasuke scoffed.

"Well we don't need to talk to them, they obviously don't want anything to do with us." Kiba rolled his eyes.

"We are from the same village, we should be able to trust them with our lives." Naruto appeared behind them a smile on his face.

"You can trust me and Shikamaru with your lives." The rookies jumped, not seeing Naruto move from his seat.

"That doesn't mean we are your friends." Shikamaru said behind them. "especially you Sasuke." Shikamaru finished and Naruto rolled his eyes.

"You can trust that if we all take a mission, I value nothing more than us completing the mission with everybody intact. We aren't cold hearted." Naruto said and Shikamaru smiled.

"Just not friendly with anybody other than the other." Shikamaru said and somebody slammed the door.

"Shut up, the test is starting now, everybody get in line." The tall man with scars said and Naruto eyes widened.

"How'd you get your Scars? Mind telling me the stories?" Naruto asked standing in front of them man, and yet again nobody felt his presence move, and neither did the man.

"None of your concern." He said in a deep authoritative voice and Naruto only rolled his eyes.

"You aren't my alpha, that doesn't work on me. Now are you going to tell me some stories?" The man tilted his head but then Shikamaru walked up to the duo flinging a cigarette everybody in the room knew he was too young for.

"Come Naruto, we have to take the test." Shikamaru said and Naruto pouted but nodded.

"After this test, I want some stories old man." Naruto said walking away with Shikamaru and the tall man only narrowed his eyes.

He couldn't even sense the children at all.

So the test begun and Naruto sat next to Hinata, and Shikamaru far from him. However Naruto and Shikamaru filled this test out with ease, while yawning. Naruto looked around the room, so many Chunin hiding within the ranks, two in each row.

The test was called and there stood the famous question, answer it or not? The faith of your squad rested with it. So the numbers fell and fell some more and when there hasn't been an elimination in twenty minutes, they all passed.

A lot of people didn't know why so when he explained a woman came in, she reeked of snake to Naruto and he made a clone to keep his eye on her.

She told them to meet her in the forest of death and they all followed her, well everybody but Naruto and Shikamaru. Ibiki sighed and Naruto stood in front of him.

"So what's the damn stories old man?" Ibiki sighed and looked down.

"Persistent, just like your mother." Naruto frowned and stepped back.

"Never mind, bye." Naruto left in a cloud of smoke and Shikamaru was smoking another cigarette.

"His mother and him don't have the best relationship, he really looks up to you, he would like to be your apprentice." Shikamaru said and left in a cloud of smoke.

When Naruto was drunk one night, he was rambling that he looked up to Ibiki, that he wanted to be his apprentice, that Interrogation and Touture is where he wanted to work, where he wanted to be.

Shikamaru questioned Why, but it was a stable career, because Shikamaru's ultimate goal was to be in Anbu again, and somebody had to come home every night to the children.

Ibiki only sighed and left to the Hokage.
