they never tell you that the ones closest to you will hurt you
they never say "beware of your loved ones, they will take advantage of you"
they never tell you that one day the anger and devastation you feel after being used and discarded by every man you've ever let near you will build until it's a festering heap of corpses, all of you
they never say that you'll have to learn to be inherently afraid of walking alone
no one says that you will jump whenever a man makes a sudden movement
they never say that men will stare at you, eyes creeping to the parts of you that you learn to hate because suddenly you aren't a person you are a slab of meat
they NEVER tell you that you are meant to be pretty, but not intimidatingly gorgeous, curved but not fat, smart but not a know it all, strong but not stronger than a man because we are not allowed to make them feel inferior
they did say life wasn't fair
but life should come with a warning label of every other things that sucks
life hurts
life kills you
life crushes you
life tells you that you are worth nothing
life will never love youthey never said that fighting back meant you were unlovable
they never said it hurt like this
they said i could be whatever i wanted
as long as it fit every standard they had laid out for meand i
don't
fit.
